🚨 Deputies Shoot Armed Man During Kern County Incident

On May 9, 2025, Kern County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the 600 block of Water Street after reports of a man armed with a hammer, machete, and firearm.

Deputies encountered 42-year-old Sadi Geovani Diaz, who was armed with a firearm, resulting in an officer-involved shooting. A female victim also reported being shot by Diaz and was transported to the hospital.

Diaz was injured, hospitalized, and later arrested. He faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, kidnapping, assault on a peace officer, and weapons offenses.

The Sheriff's Office later determined the use of force was within policy following an Incident Review Board examination on June 13, 2025.
