I think we have to stop giving them exactly what they want. We must starve them. Imagine what would happen if we stopped responding. They would die off.
Some people become so dependent on attention that even negative attention feels preferable to being ignored. When the role of the victim no longer draws a response, they may escalate their behavior—not because the conflict matters, but because being unnoticed feels intolerable.
For some attention-seeking personalities, negative attention is still validation. Once you stop feeding the performance, they may provoke, dramatize, or manufacture conflict—not to resolve anything, but to regain the emotional spotlight they feel entitled to occupy.
