Government could do a lot of things but @dwp ministers and @hmtreasury ministers have quickly taken to the trenches occupied by their Tory predecessors.
I’ve spoken to many of the frontbench including @patmcfaddenmp
Why they haven’t even attempted to start this is at the root of their problems (and the country’s)!

Yep.
Which is why I met CE of CO in 2019 highlighting need for public sector reform to get growth, how to do it and where to start.
I spoke to many of the frontbench before and since election. They all got this briefing and nobody has done anything.
Needs ministerial direction which doesn’t come because they’ve been owned / blagged / deluded or just scared by civil servants.
They’re as defensive and evasive as last government.
This is no good to any of us.

I’ve spoken to Pat and many of colleagues about the need for public sector reform to get growth, where to start and how to do it.
And they haven’t even tried. As defensive and evasive as the last government.
They need to issue ministerial direction, have confidence and be brave!

The MoD has huge problems, many of which are in procurement.
It’s the same in DWP and it’s holding the country back.
It’s why this briefing went to the frontbench on the need for public sector reform to get growth, where to start and how to do it.
And government haven’t touched it!

Bear in mind that job centres are told that they are not allowed to learn from, replicate and scale successful programmes they have bought.
Most programmes get 30% or less into work. That’s a 70% failure rate built in.
Back in 2012/13 @recroconsulting were getting 50% NEETs into work in Enfield but as far as @DWP system is concerned, that never happened.
It’s an astonishing mess which nobody wants to touch.
Explained here from 2024: https://t.co/FXlEaSk7Ww
@connie_dimsdale@mollyblackall@theipaper Congrats Connie!
Have a look at this and let me know if you’d like to speak. Spoke to Labour frontbench before the election and gave them this.
Not been actioned at all. Growth is impossible without doing this: https://t.co/uEL0zAZ74f
@PimlicoJournal This is the starting point, as o discussed with chief executive of civil service in 2019. Gave it to @UKLabour frontbench before the election.
It’s not difficult unless you don’t act… which is where we are…

I met Chris a number of times but he never got me a in a room with all of them to present this.
In my naivety, I thought having 100-150 MPs saying to the PM, here’s how to do what you promised, change to get growth might spur some action.
Shouldn’t come to that as I did give the below to @RachelReevesMP and explain it before the election but… 🤔
https://t.co/FXlEaSk7Ww
@hoffman_noa I like Chris and think he’s a good guy but he never put me in front of LGG members to go through how to do public sector reform to get growth.
I thought that might get ministers doing what they should be doing anyway but… 🤔
https://t.co/uEL0zAZ74f
Yep.
I’m not saying government is easy but as in anything else in recruitment, people will struggle if that capability isn’t there, or desire.
I put this in @RachelReevesMP and spoke to her about it before the election.
Everyone talks about public sector reform to get growth. Here’s where to start and how.
Without this, it ain’t happening…
https://t.co/FXlEaSk7Ww
@patrickkmaguire@Ommasalma Yet he could and should have been doing this. Pat has had significant evidence from me long before the election and agreed with the significance of it yet failed to act, along with all of his colleagues: https://t.co/uEL0zAZ74f
