Tennessee Valley Authority's Browns Ferry nuclear plant is one building containing three powerful reactors.
It makes steady, carbon-free power for 3 million people for the incomprehensibly low production cost of $15 per MWh in 2021.
It was built for an inflation-adjusted 2023-$ cost of $1260/kW, long since paid off, and half the cost of today's cheapest Chinese plants.
It runs on 24-month refueling cycles for extreme uptime and thus lower costs.
It has been running for almost 50 years, will last for many more decades, and in the end may not need to ever retire because the reactor vessels are doing well and that's pretty much the only part we haven't yet successfully replaced in a nuclear plant.
TVA is socialism, so it's the American people's wealth that is stacking up here.
This may be the finest energy project in the world.
