@ZacB_MN I don’t think it was okay at all, The Baltics had the right to secede as it was a right in the Soviet Constitution. But colonialism typically results in the underdevelopment/reprimarization of the area of being colonized. The Baltics didn’t experience that. Important distinction
A country with a brand new political system, recovering from two of history's deadliest wars, building up from a feudal backwater, beat the biggest invading army in history which had already walked over Europe with fewer soldiers. You can't do that with incompetent leadership.
