“The Broncos fabricated his clutch success relative to other top QBs to create a false narrative as the NFL's comeback king”
We can talk about context, Reeves’s scheme and debate about Elways numbers, particularly completion percentage, but this is just a blatantly false statement.
Who were these other QBs exactly? Five guys in his era or before and he’s third on the list. One behind a peer and only two behind a predecessor.
Great Legends of the Game segment featuring David “Deacon” Jones from 1980. Killer classic footage of the OG sack king and some great interviews quotes.
On why he invented the head slap:
“I deep in my heart and soul thoroughly dislike offensive lineman.”
On the only thing he would have done differently:
“I would’ve killed more quarterbacks.”

Ha. Beast. So funny John Brodie was on the call on one of the last games of that 81 season, and he kept saying we will never see another guy throw for 4800 yards again! But he was more right than not because outside Marino we didn’t until the rules changed. Joiner was just an incredible route runner though. People sleep.
For my san diego guys. Just caught this the other night. James Brooks run in a week 17 must win against the hated Raiders in 81. Check the double spin move!
Then check Fouts to Joiner in double coverage for the touch. Much like Loften, 18 doesn't get the respect he deserves. @carterivan68@SDUTKrasovic
@carterivan68@kengfunk@SDUTKrasovic Still number 12 in yards all time after all the rule changes. Only two guys who even started their career in the eighties or earlier before him. Plus, no one ran a better post corner
@carterivan68@kengfunk@SDUTKrasovic He maybe right outside my
Top ten, but I really don’t understand why Loften seems to never even be in the discussion.
Mr. Carter is right. So tiring on this app listening to these kids. Especially, cause if they really gave a shit they actually have access to the games via you tube. Watch the games! Kids making judgements about shit off a piece of paper.
Another thing when you watch the games is you get stats you otherwise wouldn’t have access to. Just got done watching the 94 cowboys season. From 92 to 94 Aikmans completion percentage vis a vis to field position increased every 20 yards as he got to the goal. His completion percentage in the red zone was mid 70s. You ain’t going to find that shit on pro football reference.
While the first statement is probably true, the second statement is incongruent with the posted picture.
Mr. Owens is dressed like a gentleman here and in thorough alignment with 1930’s style, as both wide lapels and pinstripes were hallmarks of the era (see Messrs Grant, Cooper and Churchill below).
Sadly, my sartorial knowledge stops at accouterments, so I am unable to comment on the briefcase.
@discoque92 Gibbs was so good. Warren mostly blocked, but maybe once a year they would have a Don Warren game where they would specifically target him and he would crush it. Brilliant
