@StanFalk@wenc2030@JackPosobiec If I were ever fortunate enough to be a guest on Rogan, I don’t think I would even consider opining on the Middle East because at the end of the day I’m just a random schmuk with an opinion.
I would keep it to what I know.
@StanFalk@wenc2030@JackPosobiec Eh, it sounds like you have your own biases as well. I’ve seen people come down on both sides of the debate.
I’m not claiming to be an expert on the Middle East so I don’t know why you would draw that false equivalency. I’m not framing myself as some know-it-all.
@ChiefTodd16@wenc2030@StanFalk@JackPosobiec Smith has been on several top rated podcasts to opine on these subjects. That's his right.
But don't say "I'm not an expert" just to dodge criticism. If you're putting yourself front & center on large platforms, you should stand behind what you say and actually know your stuff.
@rachetmarvel@MisbegottenFool @blyssfulll Agreed.
By demanding change, you’re implying that something was wrong in the first place.
There’s nothing wrong with the F4.
@StanFalk@wenc2030@JackPosobiec “I’m not an expert on football but let me give you my post game Super Bowl analysis…”
I don’t know about you but maybe that’s not the right guy to have on your football studio panel. Who cares what they have to offer at that point?
@StanFalk@wenc2030@JackPosobiec If this Norm character proclaims to be an expert on the subject then yes I take no issue with inviting him on.
If you’re being invited to talk about a subject on the biggest podcast platform in the entire world, you should have more than just a passing knowledge.
@wenc2030@StanFalk@JackPosobiec You don’t have to care what I think. The truth is the truth.
Murray is right to call out Dave for his “I’m not an expert” schtick.
@Throg238673@StanFalk@JackPosobiec The oddsmakers don’t make $ from the spread. Their goal is encourage 50/50 action on both sides and make $ from the vig.
Sometimes they get it wrong and too much $ comes in on one side so they have to change the spread accordingly.
A stats expert is not a sports expert.
@StanFalk@wenc2030@JackPosobiec At no point did I suggest that someone like Dave Smith should be censored. He is free to bloviate about whatever he wants.
But make no mistake, he’s absolutely asserting himself to be some type of expert… which is why it’s disingenuous of him to claim “I’m not an expert”.
@wenc2030@StanFalk@JackPosobiec So if Rogan wants to have someone on to talk about the same issue from the other side, it would probably be best not to have someone on who spent most of that time working as a comedian.
He can have his opinion, but he can’t speak from a place of authority.
@wenc2030@StanFalk@JackPosobiec I’m not saying Douglas is right about everything or that Dave is wrong about everything, but one of these guys had a front row seat to the Middle East debacle for 20+ years and has been covering it extensively.
He’s going to have more context and more knowledge.
@breedingtop691 @sleepin_volk@RichardHanania How is it hypocritical? Where did I defend legacy media???
And if this last election proved anything, it’s that new media has more reach and more influence than legacy media now.
Rogan is arguably more influential than any legacy pundit currently going.
@TheeAndyMcGill@PinkPanther220@samtripoli@DouglasKMurray I didn’t listen to the podcast. I only saw the exchange where they debated about “experts”… and for the most part I agreed with Murray even though he articulated his argument poorly.
If you proclaim you aren’t expert, then maybe you shouldn’t be front and center on this issue.
@TheeAndyMcGill@PinkPanther220@samtripoli@DouglasKMurray@normfinkelstein@ComicDaveSmith Well if this Norm person claims to be an expert, I would much rather him be in that seat than Dave.
So then why is Dave in the seat? Why not use his influence to get someone like Norm in the seat? Someone who can be a real champion for that side and can speak authoritively?
@TheeAndyMcGill@PinkPanther220@samtripoli@DouglasKMurray Yes actually, these athletes *should* shut up and dribble.
I’m glad LeBron James has an opinion, and he’s entitled to it, but if I want gain some perspective on Israel and Palestine… I’m not really interested in what LeBron James has to say.
