FLOODING: Govt has not stopped planning, implementing interventions to address flooding. Not unique to Kampala though ; urban flooding is a global phenomenon affecting cities.

Targeted solutions are already being rolled out to address known bottlenecks. For instance, additional drainage capacity, including box culverts at Kyambogo, the Kampala Flyover area has had enhanced capacity of drainage systems and others planned to improve water flow and reduce flood risk in critical areas.

But, it’s important to note that human behaviour such as improper waste disposal and encroachment on drainage channels has significantly compromised the performance of existing systems, putting pressure on infrastructure and necessitating accelerated interventions.

Even with drainage structures as large as a football field, without proper disposal manners, these structures shall not perform their function.
