Barely a few weeks ago, some of the same people now calling for Ubuntu were celebrating the eviction of hawkers and treating informal traders like scum. Today they ask us to show Ubuntu because a man who grew rich on rigged and inflated government tenders has died.
Where was your Ubuntu when our children were learning under trees because public money was diverted to private pockets?
Where was your Ubuntu when Kariba families lost loved ones on an overcrowded ferry because there are no roads?
Where was your Ubuntu when those grieving families were offered $100?
We will all die one day. Ubuntu is not a shield for the powerful to hide behind only when it suits them. Show it to the hawker, the child under the tree, and the family handed $100 for a life. Then ask us for ours.
The problem with looting in Africa,
Is that it's inter- country,
Our leaders across the continent,
Loot together,
And shield each other from accountability.
And the sooner we realise that,
We as Africans,
Must unite,
And rise collectively, as Africans,
Against corruption based oppression,
And against all our corrupt oppressors,
The better!
Look at the president of Kenya,
Openly mourning the death of one of the most corrupt people in Zimbabwe.
An ex convict,
A person who amassed millions by looting state resources...
In an ideal continent,
One where our leaders respected us,
The President of Kenya,
For appearances sake,
If nothing else,
Would be distancing himself from this dead, corrupt, thief.
But no,
He has to rub the alliance in our faces.
Our leaders are a disgrace.
@the_sambu And yet Ambulances had to be sent 80 + km from the capital to the crash site. Stealing public resources and running everything down including public health comes to bite back hard. African leaders have still not learnt this lesson.
@advocatemahere True, we want a Zimbabwe were hard work is respected not Zimbabwe were hard working people suffer and those who praise Zvigananda get handouts for bootlicking
@matigary The mere fact that people who are not even pro Zanu are debating this point shows how far we have fallen as a nation in terms of critical thinking.
The money is from inflated contracts that are illegally awarded to him for work that is never done.
This is the atupidiest argument o have seen on twitter.
Quality of life is measured by what ordinary working folk can do with their zig.
Can a maid take care of family and send kids to school?
Can a security afford decent rentals, transport, food a family on his salary?
Is a teacher salary enough to save and buy a mercedes c180 like their counterparts in Botswana and Namibia
🔸Church leaders should be the moral compass of the nation, not agents and accomplices to corruption.
Church leaders should take sides with the poor, not aid the oppression of the masses.
Church leaders should speak truth to power courageously, not allow themselves to be bribed into silence with cars and money.
We need new leaders.🇿🇼
Rather than increasing productivity, it is now easier to rebase the economy and tell people they are richer.
GoZ has the right instinct in wanting cleaner cities and a more formal economy. Street trading is itself a reaction to decades of policy failure, but that does not mean policy should entrench informality. Real GDP rises through productivity, investment and output, not statistical rebasing.
The reality of unemployment is visible on our streets. Cabinet therefore needs business-friendly policies that allow firms to invest and hire. Start with lower taxes, remove IMTT and deregulate.
It is not enough to chase hawkers off the streets. Give them an economy worth formalising into. Encourage SME investment, productivity and employment through incentives rather than pretending prosperity in rebased statistics …
🔸Aliko Dangote is a real businessman. We see his cement production business, his oil refinery, his fertilizer plants and his conglomerate generally. He talks business, explains how he has built his wealth and articulates grand plans for the future. This is what it means to be a multi-billion dollar businessman. Not chisnake oil looting mbinga cum briefcase bogusness chamunotiitira ichi.🙌🏽
We need new leaders.🇿🇼
@Shadaya_Knight Nigeria has every civilized material that can be imported.
The problem lies in building the civilization that can’t be imported - things like electricity, roads, sewage-water system, industries, cities.
If it was possible to import these things; they would’ve done so. Black man
It’s getting worse by the day.
Is there no one close to @edmnangagwa and @wicknellchivayo who can tell them kuti zvakwana.
Let’s turn our attention:
1) factories, roads & farms which can create jobs and create more wealth.
2) car assembly plants, so that those cars are assembled in Zimbabwe.
3) building and equipping hospitals, schools and other social services.
Spare us the crocodile tears. Nine women are dead, SAPS is still investigating, yet you’ve already blamed Zimbabweans, Tswanas and Mozambicans with zero evidence, conveniently just in time to promote your march and march agenda.
Apparently, in your world, South Africans never commit crime. Bafana Mahungela’s conviction says otherwise. Let evidence speak, not xenophobia. Have some shame woman!
@KMutisi@edmnangagwa@MhonaFelix Under Mnangagwa, 97 people perished
That new ferry will not restore lives, this idiotic thing of reacting to catastrophic events rather than preventing them is evil
Celebrating the ferry is spitting on those that perished
