We were beaten, we were tear-gassed. I thought I was going to die on this bridge. But somehow and some way, God almighty helped me here. We cannot give up now. We cannot give in. We must keep the faith, keep our eyes on the prize.
This is a moment where as part of our political discourse, we are finally talking about #poverty. We must commit to move people out of poverty permanently. People don’t live in poverty only on election years.
From @NowThis’ interview with me @staceyabrams:
A barbershop in Arkansas is helping its community open up about mental health. Picture Perfect has become a place where anyone can come in and talk about what they are dealing with, and the barbers are certified to help. https://t.co/jX3r45kbFo
ASKING someone "Are you suicidal" & "Do you have a plan?" does not make someone suicidal. If the answer is YES, sit with them, listen & then direct them to supports.
Asking the direct question creates safe space for someone to acknowledge their pain @800273TALK@CrisisTextLine
If you’re struggling with some tough thoughts today due to current events in the news, don’t be afraid to reach out. Call the Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255) at any time to speak with a trained, caring crisis counselor. We're here for you and we want to help you through this.
.@WHO Close to 800 000 people die due to suicide every year. One life lost to suicide is one too many. I will continue to share messages of HOPE because although it may not be an action plan, it is a start. #beheretomorrow
Mental illness is not a personal failure. In fact, if there is failure, it is to be found in the way we have responded to people with mental and brain disorders. We need to show care & empathy to our fellow humans #beheretomorrow
