Freedom from health insurance! We provide easy tools to live free from the shackles of health insurance and the sickcare system. Posts from Marketing & CEO.
The beauty of the Crowd is that it creates a free market by filling the gap between two broken options:
Health insurance supposedly "protects" people from big bills (although it often doesn't), by transferring the risk to a third party, it removes any reason to care about price, which is a major reason costs keep climbing.
Going uninsured keeps people price conscious, but it leaves them exposed to catastrophic expenses.
CrowdHealth combines the two: community support for large, unexpected costs, with members who keep ownership of their own healthcare decisions and the tools to make those decisions well.
We believe putting ownership back with the individual is the only way to bring real consumerism, and real cost reduction, to healthcare.
Dear free market people:
In one sentence, explain how free markets can fix our fatal healthcare system so that an average voter can, a) understand, and b) actually believe you.
(This ought to be good 😅).
Check out https://t.co/IxUWPRpo02. It’s a virtual healthshare from an ACA compliant Healthshare. You have to agree to their statement of standards (which are palatable to some but not others) but could save you some money. You can have SimpleShare and Crowd both without problems. We are not affiliated in any way with SimpleShare.
@bbakowski11@Unibetternbtr That’s what it was the last 12 months. We only ask what the community needs. The max you would pay is $8100 but we’ve only asked for the max three months in the last five years.
I wish I could say we planned it this way. The truth is we became a data company:
More members → more bills More bills → more cash-pay prices More cash-pay prices → better low-cost, high-quality options Better options → lower costs Lower costs → lower prices Lower prices → more members
…and the flywheel spins again.

@teslavangelist You pay the first $500 of any health event. You submit those bills so if you total bills are $1000 we’d send $500 to the community for funding. Takes around 8 days to get funded.
@Songwriterfan1@TheGoozer68 You are out of pocket for anything that happened in the last 5 years for the first two years of membership. Eligible for funding thereafter
The problem with your logic is that the community has paid 99.9% of the bills. Every bill sent to collections has been negotiated and paid. You would let your mechanics bill go to collections if you knew it would get it back down to a reasonable price…but you won’t do it when someone else is paying the bill.
You previously stated that you were considering CHM. CHM’s prices for a family of 4 are up 73% over the last 5 years. Ours are down 35%. Collections are harmless. It doesn’t impact a thing (other than the price will go down). If you are scared up a paper tiger then sign up with them. You agreed with Andy that you would be ticked if the mechanic gave you a $15,000 bill for a $500 service. You would fight it. Yet, you find it “terrible” that we would fight this bill. Why…because you aren’t paying the bill. Somebody else is paying the bill so you just expect it to get paid without a fight. And there, in a nutshell, is why healthcare is broken.
@pink68867645 Totally true. But there is no legal guarantee that health plans will pay either! In fact we have done a much much better job at getting bills paid than insurance companies (primarily because we don’t profit from bills getting denied).
