"Dolly" is the next in line to be assigned to a storm this Atlantic hurricane season. We join everyone else in the weather community to ask that it be immediately retired.
Here to remind you that Dolly Parton donated enough money throughout her lifetime to keep herself away from becoming a billionaire. She was an angel. RIP, diva.
I'm sorry we never got a chance to meet, but getting this note from Dolly really had a an impact on me. She definitely didn't have to take the time to do it. Even for a kid who mostly listened to rap music, she was an icon. A superstar in every sense. Rest easy Dolly. And thank you for the kind words.

Wish we could blow all of that back to where it came from.
Growing up shy gave me a lot of time to just listen and I learned that a lot of talkers are rude and painfully boring.. so if a shy person is still not talking to u.. well..

BTW if the Argentinian beef is what Trump acquired it contains chloramphenicol, a powerful antibiotic that can cause aplastic anemia. Aplastic anemia destroys your bone marrow and basically gives you leukemia. I would avoid beef for the next 6 months+ if you're American.

Last year I got this 500-page printed book of sample sentences for Arabic verbs which sells for $21.95. Right in the middle of the book, it states: "Would you like [ChatGPT] to proceed with more verbs? You said: continue, ChatGPT said: CHATGPT.” Of course, I returned it immediately and got my money back. Just checked today (one year later) and it’s still available for sale.
I’ve seen a lot of people talking about the recent cases in Jeju, so I wanted to put together what actually happened because several different incidents are being mixed together online.
The case at the center of everything is 37-year-old Jang Mi-ran.
On May 12, Jang left the accommodation where she had been staying long-term in Hallim, Jeju, at around 10:15 PM. CCTV captured her leaving. That was the last confirmed sighting of her.
On May 15, her boyfriend reported her missing.
This is where things become extremely serious.
The police officer assigned to the case claimed that he had contacted Jang and confirmed that she was safe. He told her boyfriend that Jang did not want her location disclosed.
Based on that report, the missing-person case was closed that same night.
Except Jang had never actually spoken to the officer.
Police later found no call record showing that the officer had contacted her.
In other words, a missing-person case was closed based on a false report that the missing person had been contacted and was safe.
Jang’s boyfriend tried to report her missing again in July, but the previous record affected the process and the report was not properly accepted at first.
Her family eventually filed another report through a police station in Seoul, after which the search was resumed.
And this is another reason people are angry: by the time the case was properly investigated, some CCTV footage that could have been crucial to the investigation had already been deleted because its retention period had expired.
Jang had been missing for 104 days.
Then, on August 24, police searching near her accommodation found a body in a palm-tree farm in Hallim.
The location was reportedly only around 400 meters from where Jang had been staying.
Today, August 25, police confirmed that the body was Jang Mi-ran through forensic dental examination. Her fingerprints had deteriorated, so dental identification was used. DNA testing is also being carried out.
The condition of the body made it difficult to determine whether there were external injuries. Police said no unusual fractures were found.
Based on the position and circumstances in which the body was found, investigators currently suspect that Jang may have died by hanging.
But this is VERY important:
The cause and manner of death have NOT been conclusively established.
Police are still investigating, including forensic examination of her phone.
So at this point, it would be wrong to say that Jang was murdered.
It would also be premature to say that her death was definitely suicide.
The investigation is still ongoing.
And then another case came to light.
The SAME police officer who handled Jang’s case had apparently dealt with another missing-person report in a very similar way.
This time, the missing person was a man in his 60s.
The officer again reportedly claimed that he had contacted the missing man, that he was safe, and that he did not want his location disclosed.
The case was closed.
The man was later found dead, 51 days after he went missing.
Police are now investigating the officer for both cases and examining whether there were other cases handled in a similar manner. The officer had reportedly handled 298 missing-person cases since joining the missing-person team in March 2025, so authorities are now reviewing those cases as well.
And this is why the situation in Jeju suddenly became national news.
Between August 22 and August 24, four people who had been reported missing were found dead in Jeju.
One of them was Jang Mi-ran.
The other three were men.
A man in his 60s was found dead on August 22.
A man believed to be in his 70s was found dead at sea near Jocheon on August 23 after being reported missing the previous day.
Another missing person was found dead near a valley in Aewol on August 24.
These are separate cases, and there is currently NO evidence that all four deaths are connected or that they were caused by the same person.
