Over 60% of commercial policies in MA are self-insured & untouched by this state policy, in fact it just adds to their competitive advantages in provider negotiations & workforce recruitment. Just like the 59 state mandates which raise premiums for MA small employers & their workforces & now add up to 24% of premium; & just like state & local taxpayer funded plans which must follow state law, this new mandate means higher premiums for small employers & their workforces, higher tax expenditures for state & local plans, & less tools for the minority of policies already suffering under unaffordable state laws. It doesn't touch at all the majority operating under federal law which already have far lower premiums. After 20 years of discriminatory & inflationary state healthcare policies, FIX HIGH COST STATE LAWS & JUST CAP INSURER PREMIUMS & PROVIDER REIMBURSEMENTS!
