Imagine a $700,000 homestead exemption. Thats the equivalent of what existed in 1934 when our property tax collections were moved to the cities and counties.
I voted to put this very measured and balanced amendment on the ballot. My property appraiser and the department of revenue have a tremendous amount of data that I looked at before they he vote. I met with the President of the League of Cities (a good friend) numerous times, spoke to countless special districts and many counties before the vote. Ultimately, I don’t represent counties or cities or special districts. I represent voters - and countless voters personally asked me to give them a voice in the decision. “What are we afraid of” by letting the voters decide?
🧵 Two weeks after the vote, we’re finally beginning to discover what the Legislature voted for.
This county-by-county estimate projects a recurring impact of nearly $11.9 billion per year on local governments by FY 2030-31.
The obvious question:
Why are we seeing this now instead of before the vote?
Since I took office as Attorney General:
✅ Statewide prosecutions up over 50%
✅ Criminal convictions up nearly 40%
✅ Human trafficking convictions up over 30%
✅ Record $1 billion recovered for Florida consumers
✅ Record 1700 child predators arrested
I love this job!
Thanks for asking, Rep.
Nova Classical STEM Academy in Ft. Myers is opening this fall w/ expanded enrollment due to overwhelming demand from families.
Students there will thrive, just as they do at the classical charter school I opened right in your backyard. You should visit!
Or, it’s like someone on the same team (since we are all on the same team) supporting a player in a different role. A good number of us in the process actually want what is good for Floridians. I know that doesn’t get clicks but that’s the reality.
Why wouldn’t I be on board?! I filed the only bill in 2025 that started this conversation. Have you seen my tweets or heard me on the radio or tv discussing this issue the past year and a half? I’ve pushed back on the special interests that have tried to stop this. Let me know if you disagree with any of my past statements or tweets on this subject. My only concern is that it doesn’t go far enough. But the goal is to get the biggest cut to at will get 60% onto the ballot.
BREAKING NEWS: Washington @Nationals Director of Community Relations Admits on Hidden Camera to Active Religious Discrimination Against Starting Pitcher Trevor Williams, Surveillance of Nationals Fans’ Google History, and Segregated LGBTQ+ Corporate Meetings to an O’Keefe Undercover Journalist
“One of our pitchers, Trevor Williams. He’s super Christian-Catholic, all these tattoos that mean a lot.”
“The Dodgers had a group… who were drag queens who sometimes dressed up as nuns. He [Trevor Williams] went on social media like… ‘This is my religion. You all are mocking it.’”
“Because of that, we [Washington Nationals] don’t use him [Trevor Williams] on social [media].”
“Like, when they're like, is a hot dog a sandwich? And like, the players come up, you know what I mean? Like, we [Nationals] don't ask him [Trevor Williams].”
“If you ever come to a Nats game, there is someone on our team who is responsible for figuring out everything about you and assigning you into a bucket of people. If you’re accepting cookies, we’re getting a plethora of your Google history.”

A lot of great people helped make this bill a success. Taxpayers, students, and good teachers will be better off because of this bill. Thank you @FLChamber for recognizing the hard work of so many that was required to make this bill a law!
Congrats to Senator @jonmartinesq on receiving a 2026 @FLChamber Distinguished Advocate Award!
He fought to ensure transparency and accountability in the collective bargaining process while also protecting taxpayers by limiting the use of government-paid time for union or political activities.

🚨 BREAKING: The US Supreme Court has ruled 9-0 that freight brokers can be held LIABLE if they negligently hire unsafe trucking companies — including those with ILLEGAL ALIEN and FOREIGN drivers who violate CDL rules and cause accidents
LFG! Start cracking down on the companies 🔥
The opinion, delivered by Barrett, confirms that federal law does not shield these brokers from state negligence lawsuits.
This will likely help force brokers into being MUCH more careful about which carriers they use, because they want to avoid lawsuits
PURGE THE CDL SYSTEM and hold all trucking companies liable!
Non-English foreigners all over the roads needs to end.
I beat Strom Thurmond’s son in a majority-white district for a seat in Congress.
Then won statewide in South Carolina, a majority white state.
South Carolina elects leaders based on ideas, not identity. Stop erasing reality to rig the game.

Heaven ushered in a hero of the faith last night as my Dad was welcomed home!
Many will say sorry for your loss but the truth is he’s not lost, we know exactly where he is.
He’s home.
Forever!
I asked him last week what he looked forward to most about Heaven, and he simply said, “Jesus.”
He couldn’t wait to see Jesus face to face.
Praise God that his wait is over.
Death has been swallowed up in victory.
He’s healed and whole now.
So we don’t mourn as those with no hope.
See you soon Dad!
Based on his release date from the Florida Department of Corrections being 11/3/2024, these new crimes of violence would classify him as a prison releasee reoffended where the maximum prison sentence would be his minimum prison sentence. He is facing a MINIMUM of life in prison. It looks like his bond has since been revoked and of convicted, will never see the outside of a Florida prison.
My fourth session providing more tools for our SVU prosecutors and law enforcement officers to protect our kids! Great work to the Senate Criminal Justice staff as well!
Florida is a zero-tolerance state for child sexual exploitation. As predators try to find new channels to transmit lewd material and child pornography, Senate Republicans have taken a stand against this evil criminal activity. HB 1159/SB 1750, by Senator @JonMartinEsq, enhances penalties against child sexual exploitation, creates new mandatory minimums, and makes it clear: if you prey on children, Florida will put you behind bars.
Cash for Clunkers destroyed 690,000 functional vehicles in 2009, creating an artificial scarcity that rippled through used car markets for over a decade. The Obama administration sold this $3 billion program as environmental salvation and economic stimulus, but any free market economist could predict the real outcome: massive wealth destruction disguised as progress.
The program forced dealers to pour sodium silicate into engines, permanently destroying cars that poor families could have afforded. Politicians eliminated the bottom tier of the used car market overnight. Suddenly, a reliable $3,000 Honda Civic became a $7,000 Honda Civic (if you could find one). The supposed beneficiaries — working-class Americans who needed affordable transportation — got priced out entirely.
Government intervention always creates unseen victims, and Cash for Clunkers delivered them by the millions. Single mothers, college students, and minimum-wage workers watched their mobility options vanish as used car prices soared 30% between 2009 and 2014. The environmental gains proved negligible too: most clunkers averaged 15-17 MPG while replacements hit 24-25 MPG. Destroying half a million cars to improve average fuel economy by 8 MPG represents the kind of central planning that would give Soviet bureaucrats a hard-on.
The wealth destruction extended beyond sticker prices. Higher transportation costs forced people into longer payment terms, creating a debt cycle that persists today. Cash for Clunkers normalized 84-month auto loans, turning cars from depreciating assets into multi-year financial anchors.
Bureaucrats congratulated themselves for moving inventory off dealer lots while condemning an entire generation to transportation poverty.
