The Trump administration is attempting to build one AI-powered digital front door to the entire federal government.

Right now, https://t.co/ZGWirGyqrP is primarily an AI information and navigation system. Instead of searching through agency after agency, users can type a question in ordinary language and the system searches government information to produce an answer based on federal sources.

And the scale is significant.

The system is designed to consolidate information scattered across approximately 29,000 federal government websites into one interface.

Think about the difference:

OLD MODEL:
Citizen → figure out agency → find website → locate program → find form → navigate bureaucracy

What launched today is only Phase One.

• Applying for or renewing a passport
• Changing your name after marriage
• Reserving federal campsites
• Choosing Medicare plans
• Accessing veterans’ benefits
• Finding federal jobs and other services

And Trump did something today that makes this considerably more consequential than simply launching another website:

He signed an executive order directing federal agencies to integrate their public-facing services with https://t.co/ZGWirGyqrP as soon as possible.

The long-term objective is essentially that anything an American needs from the federal government should eventually be reachable through this single interface.

There is also an important DOGE connection.

https://t.co/ZGWirGyqrP is being led by Joe Gebbia, the Airbnb co-founder and U.S. Chief Design Officer who previously worked with DOGE. Other former DOGE personnel have reportedly been involved in the broader modernization effort, and Elon Musk participated in today’s launch event.

It’s a federal government project that appears to carry forward part of the government-modernization effort associated with DOGE.

And there is an important distinction between https://t.co/cteGA7EXVa and https://t.co/ZGWirGyqrP.

https://t.co/ZGWirGyqrP is attempting something considerably more ambitious:

Don’t simply create a directory of government websites. Put an intelligent layer over the government itself.

Today, the concept is essentially:

The planned evolution is:

FEDERAL AGENCIES → INFORMATION → APPLICATIONS → FORMS → BENEFITS → SERVICES → TRANSACTIONS → ONE INTERFACE

The story isn’t simply that Trump launched another government website this morning.

They’re attempting to redesign the architecture through which Americans interact with the federal government.

And today’s executive order means federal agencies are now being directed to build toward that architecture.
