Some cars collided with themselves and I believe it happened on other roads as well.

Abuja has always maintained strict adherence to its master plan like a holy book, especially during the days of El-Rufai. Before the Iran specifically February 2026 when crude price was $72-75 Dangote gantry price was 784-874 per litre, why are we now having 1175 per litre ? Yes we know there are other variables but the difference is high.

In court today, my Lord was surprised that all the divorce matters on the cause list involved marriages between young couples whose marriages were less than 1-2 yrs. He was shocked and asked why parties now seek divorce. He lamented that “we have been dissolving marriages, and it seems people are no longer interested in settling marital disputes amicably”.

My Lord asked one of the petitioners why she’s seeking for divorce and she said she “just wants to be free.” According to her, she is tired of the marriage and wants to leave. Another woman was in court as a respondent and according to her, she is not objecting to the divorce filed by her husband. She insisted that she wants the divorce proceedings to be concluded on time since the marriage had not even produced children, so that she can move on.

In few years to come, many people will become single parents and a lot of children will be psychologically affected because they are products of broken homes. While I cannot categorically say these are the exact causes of divorce, I am old enough to know that our generation may struggle to sustain marriages because we don't want to be patient, wives no longer want to be submissive, some are no longer responsible, and parties now lack understanding and accountability.

Social media has also damaged my generation. Most people believe their marriages will be like the Instagram couples they have been seeing online. Comparison is another factor. I really hope our generation gets things right, because the consequences of divorce affect not only the parties but the children involved and the society that will have to cope with the victims of dysfunctional families.

Don’t get me wrong. Divorce is not bad if there are valid grounds for it and Marriage is not a cult. If your marriage is no longer safe for you, you can seek divorce. But please, if it does not become necessary/unavoidable, it should not be seen as a solution to all marital dispute.
