Tanzania is being touted by the IMF as the least indebted country in Africa. How did they do it? Through fiscal discipline. They did not squander the HIPC relief dividend. By contrast, Ghana's debt/GDP has balooned from 26% in 2006 to 100% in 2022 bcos of fiscal indiscipline!

@NorvanReports I do not agree that if BoG had been more rigid following it’s mandate it would have brought the country to its knees. That thinking is dangerous for expenditure control bcos it meant no need for fiscal discipline. The result is govt had an open vault.
