Earlier this week, Ambassador Conlon spoke at an event hosted by @LTEmbassyUA, ahead of the future EU Council Presidency #Trio of 🇮🇪🇱🇹🇬🇷. Thanks to @Ogryzko_L for moderating & to all panellists for the stimulating discussion on 🇺🇦’s membership path, financing & related issues.
There should be nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine.
Ireland stands with Ukraine and its people as they continue to defend themselves against Russia’s ongoing illegal and brutal aggression.
Ireland will continue to support Ukraine and its path to EU membership.
🇮🇪🇺🇦
Together, we met in Dublin with @PresidentIRL Catherine Connolly. We are here on an official visit today.
Among the main issues, we discussed the return of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia, two Irish universities joining the Global Coalition of Ukrainian Studies, Ukraine’s accession to the EU, and the steps and decisions to help accelerate this process.
We also discussed cooperation on ensuring global food security, the rehabilitation and social reintegration of Ukrainian warriors, and the construction of shelters in our schools.
I thank Ireland for its support, and for the financial and humanitarian assistance it has provided since the start of Russia’s full-scale war. For all types of support to our people. This means a lot to Ukraine.
I am pleased that, in our meeting today, I was able to offer President @ZelenskyyUa not only words of assurance of Ireland’s support, but also firm and concrete commitments of assistance to Ukraine.
🇮🇪🇺🇦Fáilte go hÉirinn.
A warm welcome to President Zelenskyy, and the delegation from Ukraine, as he arrived in Dublin Airport this evening.
Taoiseach Martin greeted President @ZelenskyyUa on arrival ahead of a full programme of engagements.
Honoured to welcome President @ZelenskyyUa and First Lady @ZelenskaUA to Ireland. Our support for the people of Ukraine as they defend their freedom and democracy remains unwavering. 🇮🇪🇺🇦
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy & First Lady Olena Zelenska are to visit Ireland tomorrow, in a historic first visit. A timely opportunity to discuss bilateral relations between our countries & Ireland’s ongoing support to Ukraine at a crucial time.

Thank my dear colleagues, 🇮🇪 @ThomasByrneTD
and 🇱🇹 @SigitasMitkus for visiting Kyiv despite the relentless russian attacks & for your solid support. Had a productive discussion on #Ukraine’s EU accession, transformation agenda and the enlargement process.
Looking forward to 🇪🇺 decision to open negotiation clusters, paving the way for substantial discussions across all areas. Ukraine has delivered on its part and remains committed to a fair, merit-based approach.
In Kyiv today, I saw the extent of Russian brutality first-hand when I visited a site of the recent rocket attacks.
Humbled by the chance to offer my condolences to President Zelensky on behalf of the Irish people and laid a wreath in memory of the victims.
Slava Ukraini 🇺🇦🇮🇪🇪🇺

I am appalled by the brutal Russian missile attack on Sumy city.
People killed & injured going about their daily lives, some on their way to church for Palm Sunday.
I utterly condemn this latest cowardly attack by Russia.
These are not the actions of a country seeking peace
Shocking reports of another brutal Russian missile attack, this time targeting the centre of Sumy city, as many local residents go to church on Palm Sunday. At least 20 reported killed. Civilians continue to be targeted by Russia, even while ceasefire talks are underway.
Our deepest condolences to the families of the many civilian casualties in Kryvyi Rih, following a Russian missile attack last night. Latest reports suggest that at least 18 were killed, including 9 children, and 68 injured. Residential areas should never be a target.
Ireland strongly condemns the latest series of Russian attacks on Ukraine, including on Kharkiv, Dnipro, Sumy and critical civilian infrastructure including energy infrastructure, across Ukraine. These are not the actions of a country serious about peace.
Very constructive engagement in Paris today at the Meeting on Peace & Security for Ukraine, attended by @ZelenskyyUa.
We must keep Ukraine strong while a peace deal is being negotiated.
Thank you @emmanuelmacron & @Keir_Starmer for your leadership.
I sincerely congratulate @MichealMartinTD on the appointment as Taoiseach of Ireland. I value the solidarity, unwavering support, and financial & humanitarian aid provided by the Government of Ireland to Ukraine.
I also appreciate assistance for our citizens who have found protection in Ireland during these challenging times.
I look forward to further strengthening cooperation between Ukraine and Ireland for a united Europe.
Ireland strongly condemns the recent intermediate-range ballistic missile attack conducted by Russia. This marks yet another reckless escalatory step in its aggression against Ukraine and is further evidence that Putin’s Russia has no interest in peace.
Today, on #Holodomor Remembrance Day, Ambassador Conlon took part in a ceremony in memory of all Ukrainians who fell victim to the man-made famine of 1932-33🕯️🌾
Ireland knows the devastating and far-reaching impact of famine and stands in solidarity with Ukraine.
