A new research initiative is set to change the landscape of sarcoma treatment. Through the MoST / CaSP SARC Research Project, Omico—together with Cooper Rice-Brading Foundation (CRBF), the Tom Hardyman Sarcoma Research Fund, and Tour de Cure Australia on behalf of the Andrew Dreverman Legacy for Sarcoma Research Fund—is working to improve outcomes for people affected by this rare and complex cancer.
@ProfDMThomas, highlights the rapid progress in cancer treatment and the urgent need to ensure that patients with rare cancers like sarcoma are not left behind. @coopsfoundation A/Chairperson Colin Brading (GAICD), along with the Hardyman and Dreverman families, continues to honour the legacies of those lost to sarcoma by advancing research that can make a difference for future patients.

We’re excited to share our latest work in collaboration with @sanofi, published in iScience, demonstrating how deep learning models can predict YAP1/TEAD activity—key drivers of cancer progression—directly from routine H&E-stained histology slides.
🤖 Our models successfully predict YAP1/TEAD activity, validated across 7 independent cohorts.
🔍 Tumor necrosis, immune infiltration, and poorly differentiated tumor cells were linked to dysfunctional Hippo signaling.
💡 This approach offers a reproducible, cost-effective alternative to RNA-seq for identifying patients with dysregulated Hippo signaling - integrating AI into clinical workflows.
Why does this matter? Identifying patients with abnormal YAP1/TEAD activity could enhance the impact of emerging TEAD inhibitors, setting the stage for more effective and personalized cancer therapies.

@Andrea_Vanzulli presenting a proposal for modified RECIST criteria - the RESCOR criteria - to assess Hepithelioid Hemangioendothelioma response to therapies and clinical course! Very nice and clear presentation. Well done Andrea! We are so lucky to have you! @IstTumori
A new framework proposes criteria for extending biomarker-targeted therapies from common to rare cancers sharing the same biomarker. This approach aims to improve transparency in clinical decisions. Read more: https://t.co/oNqBwl56eh
