@EnviClimateC_Ke PS @Eng_F_Ngeno on Friday presided over the launch of National Biodiversity Coordinating Strategy (NBCM) at a meeting attended by representatives of partner institutions led by @IucnE Country Representative Innocent Kabenga, @KWS DG Erustus Kanga...
@EnviClimateC_Ke PS @Eng_F_Ngeno today hosted the Ministry's partners in biodiversity conservation led by Catherine Mungai (IUCN), Munira Bashir (TNC), Nancy Githaiga (AWF), Jonathan Odongo (WWF-Kenya) and Diana Nyanga (CI) to discuss NBCM's progress.
To achieve the actions set out in each target by the year 2030 as expected, Kenya has embarked on the process of realigning the National Biodiversity Strategic Action Plan (NBSAP).
As part of her obligations to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), Kenya is expected to report regularly to the Conference of Parties on the progress made in its implementation.
The judiciary, through the establishment of specialized courts like the Environment and Land Court, further strengthens our legal framework. These courts are dedicated to handling environmental disputes, ensuring timely and effective resolution of conflicts that arise from environmental degradation and land use issues. The Environment and Planning Division within this court structure is a testament to our commitment, as a country, to integrating environmental considerations into judicial processes, providing a specialized forum for environmental litigation and dispute resolution-Faith Odhiambo, LSK President. @esrc_hakijamii@WWF_Kenya@CPFKenya
The #BiodiversityPlan is clear: we need to reduce the global #footprint of consumption and overconsumption by 2030 to reverse biodiversity loss 🌍🌱
📅 Join us in Nairobi on Monday, 18:15 at the official #SBI4 side-event on the implementation of Target 16 of the GBF!
Last but not least, in line with the Kunming Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF), we need to develop an ambitious National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP) that ensures inclusivity, leaving no one behind in our quest to tackle biodiversity crisis.
The celebration of the International Day for Biodiversity may be over, but the fight to protect our amazing species continues! Below are four ingredients essential to halt biodiversity loss:

(3) Partnerships and collaboration - We all recognize the significance of partnerships and collaboration. Through collaboration, we can maximize our impact in a field often constrained by limited resources.
(2) Mainstreaming & finance mechanism - Mainstreaming biodiversity conservation into relevant policies, dev't strategies & across all govt levels & sectors is not enough. We need to establish a national biodiversity finance plan include biodiversity in our budgetary processes.
(1) Active participation & engagement of everyone - We must ensure that every individual - men, women, youth, indigenous groups, and PwDs - is involved in action, policy & decision-making processes. One effective way is by enhancing access to biodiversity-related information.

This undoubtedly ranks among the most captivating wetland photos I have ever captured. And it brings me immense joy to share it as we mark World Wetlands Day.
Do you know why wetlands need our attention?
