Rewrite old swipes in different formats: a VSL, email, or any other format of copy you want.

Then, once you've done that, rewrite it in 100 fewer words, then 200, then 300.

It'll force you to see and think about copy differently.

7 years ago, I was DMing one of the biggest names in ecom asking for work.

I had no agency.
No case studies.
No big clients.
No fancy offer.

Just a small Shopify store that had done around $500 in sales, a willingness to work, and the confidence to ask for a chance.

I told him I’d do product descriptions, customer emails, store management… whatever he needed.

I even said $5/hour was fine.

This Friday, I’m having lunch with him.

Funny how life works.

Back then I was trying to get into the room.

Now I get to sit across the table from someone I looked up to when I was just getting started.

Don’t be embarrassed by the early messages.

Don’t be embarrassed by starting small.

Don’t be embarrassed by asking for the opportunity.

Everyone wants the result.

Nobody wants to remember the $5/hour DMs it took to get there.

That being said, don’t network with ppl if you have no value to provide them. It comes off as sleazy and bad (couldn’t think of a better word to use to use lol)

@CopyWithOlli I don't even use ai that much for research anymore. Only use it for first drafts. All these "ai copywriters" are in for a rude awakening.

Means more money for those of us actually skilled tho 🙂
