@Kevtighe09@LVHoosierGK A few weeks back i started thinking this exact thing. I think in my experience high level clubs tend to make less substitutions than college/HS. Due to so many youth leagues Clubs don't have quality player depth like college or parents complaining to AD about playing time like HS
@markwareing01 @NanceBaker You nailed it on the studs. I’m an engineer. Just look at some of these studs girls are wearing and it’s obvious they are a cause of injury. Backed up by actual scientific studies. Not the total cause of ACL but an easy variable to eliminate.
@GazTheKitman @NanceBaker I think some of it has to do with the cleats girls wear. FG cleats grip hard and you’re asking for injury wearing them on turf if you’re a female athlete. Wear MG or AG sole plate with round studs.
@dgackey My kids have no soccer off-season in OH. If club team is good enough they play thru July, HS Aug-Nov, Club National Leagues Dec-March, March-July spring club season. June-Aug club and HS pre-season even overlap. It’s crazy, but they only do soccer so there a little rest.
@Jaspell@Don_K_Williams@fitsoccerqueen Must be different in different states. In Ohio it would be highly unusual for a travel team to play in the Ohio State Cup. That said, my 15 yr old daughter definitely had girls on her club team do club soccer, community travel soccer and HS track all in the same season.
@Softtop67@MCameron008@CoachRudyC I think there are 13 conferences in USYS. Within them are club vs club and individual club team groupings. This is way better than the old 4 region model my oldest son started in in terms of travel. I think 4 teams from each conference qualify to the 2 event National League PRO.
@Killer_V@ImCollegeSoccer Maybe I wasn’t clear. I was referring to non-ECNL or GA showcases like Jeff Cup or Blue chip. It seems the leagues are pushing them out by having their own events non-stop.
@randomblackrain @RossinRyan@SGPonchi We see this where we live too. I think it’s because the big clubs are masters of giving kids false hope that they are close to earning a starting spot. Or parents/players believe ECNL=college regardless of ability and playing time.
@ppierce1@MikeMaloy4@ImCollegeSoccer 2 kids USYS Great Lakes Conference league hosted games Friday-Sunday at Grand Park in Indiana this weekend. Probably only $600 or so for the whole weekend. Great competition for both teams too. @usysglc
@cwhall75@JuanDeNoches The flip side of this is that in my experience many parents and kids believe that if they go to the HS coach’s team/club they will get more HS playing time. The other kids and parents believe the coach’s club kids get preferential treatment.
