Those guidelines that you are mentioning actually served to reduce the negative impact of slavery by better regulating the slave trade until it could be reformed and/or abolished completely.

It’s not often that global change can be immediately implemented and successfully followed by everyone, especially when that global change will directly disrupt the global economy and existing power structures.

You are correct, willing the good of another isn’t sinful. But would you consider it acceptable to celebrate and accept a rapist for 'who they are?' Or perhaps a murderer? I sincerely hope not.

But to my actual point. Same sex attraction is not a sin, it’s only sinful when you decide to engage in sexual acts outside of marriage. Just as you are not punished for contemplating bank robbery, only acting upon it.
