Idris Mathias was a postman in Cardigan. His work took him along the Teifi River. In 1945 he embarked on project that would take 17yrs, drawing a 58-foot-long map of the area. His map includes drawings of birds, fishermen –and their names, local landmarks and placenames.

@huwbbc @thetimes @BBCNews For those offering the opinion that "Senedd" is a really hard word which readers of @thetimes are incapable of understanding, here's a headline from 2020 referring to the gov'ts of Éire & Northern Ireland as "Dáil" & "Stormont". Surely Times readers can work out what "Senedd" is.

@hounsell12 @huwbbc @thetimes @BBCNews Hi. The objection isn't that @thetimes used the English name of the Welsh gov't. The objection is they didn't bother to get it right. Our gov't hasn't been called "Assembly" since May 2020. It's the Welsh Parliament & professional political journalists know it. Laziness or snub?

@Mikie_Design @huwbbc @WinterfellT @thetimes @BBCNews When media giants are comfortable making sloppy errors regarding Wales, it sends a clear signal we're beneath their notice. C'mon it's not a school essay, it's @thetimes . Yes, I do expect their journalists to be informed & professional enough to get the name of my gov't correct.

@c4marcus @p_m_davies Can't tell if this a satirical jab at people who are willfully ignorant about #cymraeg and the proper name of the Welsh government, or not. 🙂 If so, insert chuckle. If you're serious, than we haven't had an "Assembly" since May 2020. Senedd Cymru is the Welsh Parliament. 👍

@JamieNeef One of the highlights of my week was voting in Wales for the first time, along with my 16 yr old daughter and 18 yr old son (I'm a non-British resident). It was awesome! 🤩 I felt so grateful and proud to live in a land where young people and "resident aliens" have a voice.
