Lieutenant Commander Gayson, Lieutenant Fisher and Petty Officer Green embodied the best of our Armed Forces. Their loss is truly devastating.
Tonight, we are all thinking of their families, loved ones and those who served alongside them at this deeply tragic time.
We can confirm the names of the three Royal Navy personnel who tragically lost their lives during a helicopter training exercise on 3 June:
Lt Cdr Chris Gayson, 42, Somerset
Lt Lily-Mae Fisher, 31, Surrey
PO Owen Green, 24, Hampshire

🚨EXCL: Mark Drakeford, former Labour First Minister of Wales, calls on Keir Starmer to set a timetable to step down as Prime Minister and backs Andy Burnham
In his first interview since Labour’s disastrous Welsh Parliament elections, he tells me:
• The situation for the PM is “irrecoverable”
• Suggests a contest could happen over the summer with a “new Prime Minister in place for September”
• Supports Andy Burnham to become the next Labour leader and Prime Minister - and intends to campaign for him in Makerfield.
• Believes “a strong majority of Welsh Labour members” will want to support Burnham
• Says the level of hostility towards the Labour Party which he encountered in the Senedd election campaign was something he’d never experienced in over 50 years of campaigning
• On Eluned Morgan, the former Labour First Minister, losing her seat: a “desperately sad moment”
• Claims lack of further powers devolved to Wales by the Keir Starmer administration "cut the ground from under us” in Welsh Labour's Senedd campaign

I asked Rhun ap Iorwerth, First Minister of Wales:
'You know what happens when a new government comes in promising change & can't deliver as quickly as the electorate wants. What early, tangible changes can the people of Wales expect from a Plaid Cymru government?'

“In truth, this was a car crash in slow motion. Perhaps few can have imagined the final impact would be quite so severe. For Keir Starmer he will now always wear the tag of the Labour leader who, after a century of unparalleled dominance, ‘lost Wales’”

A key theme throughout the #Senedd26 campaign: pressures on the NHS in Wales 🏥
We feature 3 cases in this piece for #c4news:
• Christina Chidlow, 86, who has dementia: had to spend 3 days/3 nights in a chair in a hospital corridor due to a lack of beds
• Tina Gough whose hand/wrist use is deteriorating through arthritis as she awaits surgery
• Gareth Jordan who spent 4 days in a (reclining) chair in A&E
Each case speaks to some of the intense challenges across the system
Today's latest Welsh NHS performance figures confirm, again, progress IS being made in certain areas: Average waiting times/2yr+ waits are down. But once again key targets have been missed⬇️

“No more bending to Westminster's will”
Rhun ap Iorwerth, Plaid Cymru’s leader, launching his party's Senedd election manifesto 📃
From Wrexham, our #c4news report ⬇️
(Team @c4marcus@MackesonPaul)
Plaid Cymru's manifesto pledges include:
• Universal childcare offer for children aged 9 months to 4 years
• New Development Agency for Wales
• Pilot scheme Cynnal - £10 weekly Welsh Child Payment to up to 15,000 children in low income households
• Pursue devolution of justice & policing ‘as an immediate priority’
• New literacy and numeracy targets in schools
• Hire up to 100 additional salaried GPs
• New Minister for Public Health
• Introduce rent caps (see earlier post)
I've just interviewed Plaid Cymru's leader Rhun ap Iorwerth as he launched their Senedd election manifesto in Wrexham...
🎙️CLIP 1. In our previous interview, I tried to pin him down on how Plaid would fund its major childcare offer. I've asked again...
🎙️CLIP 2: NHS Waiting lists. He tells me, under a Plaid Cymru government, 2 year waits in Wales will end "within months"
🎙️ CLIP 3: Plaid has announced it would introduce rent controls in Wales ("limiting annual rent increases to the lower of wage growth or CPI inflation, or a clearly defined equivalent benchmark)
