Pittsburgh EMS winter storm update, provided by Chief Gilchrist

People don’t realize how safe and effective acetaminophen is for pain and fever. By scaring people away from Tylenol, fevers will either go untreated (dangerous, especially for young children and fetuses) or NSAIDs will take its place, which carry much more significant side effects, like stomach ulcers or kidney injury. It’s not hyperbole to say the president yelling at people not to take this medication will lead to deaths.
For every PGY1 thats nervous about July 1, theres a PGY2 nervous about no longer being an intern, a PGY3 nervous about being in their last year, and a graduate nervous about being a new attending. And someone with years of experience out there who knows you all will be ok.
Excited to be at #AMEC2025. Full circle moment… at this conference 2 years ago I met UPMC GME and now I’ll be at the UPMC booth this weekend! Excited to meet some potential future co residents, catch up with old friends, and be inspired by the black and brown doctors around me
