@unfiltered_op@jimiuorio Except you cannot use the word free. It is subsidized by the taxpayers. At some point people will tire of too many people freeloading. Some of it is necessary for those in true need, but it will fail when others get tired of paying for those who shouldn’t qualify.
JB Pritzker on Illinois' sky-high property taxes: "Not my fault."
During an interview this week, he blamed local governments three times for Illinois having the highest property taxes in the country.
Pritzker hopes you won't notice he:
-pushes and signs a massive number of unfunded mandates that force local governments to raise property taxes to pay for them (44 last year alone)
-constantly attempts to cut LGDF, forcing municipalities and counties to raise property taxes to make up the shortfall
-increases school funding only the required minimum amount each year, not even keeping pace with inflation, forcing districts to continue to over-rely on property taxes
-repeatedly attempts to stop the Property Tax Relief Grant program, one of the few state tools specifically designed to lower property taxes
For JB Pritzker, it's always someone else's fault. After 8 years of excuses, it's time to elect a governor who will actually lead.
@ewarren Higher education gets more expensive every year, far outpacing inflation while adding graduation requirements for silly classes that add no value and paying professors that probably should not have jobs. And schools who have huge endowments aren’t using it to further education.
@noflipflopspod@NYCMayor Yes. No history of mental illness, yells Allahu Akbar…and the police say seems to be a mental health issue. So they agree that radical Islam is a mental health issue at least.
@mattrobinson They created it. They need to get themselves out of it, not the rest of the state. I will be moving out of Illinois if the state bails the ChicagoPublic Schools (really the Teachers Union) out.
@GavinNewsom It’s not. He earned it. It’s called innovation due to the capitalistic structure.
What you are asking is for theft, which is a five alarm fire.
