Strategy, innovation, change. Living the Municipal Dream as Head of Strategy & Policy @lbbd. Trying to change the world in some small way. Views my own
@SimonFParker Can't live with them, can't live without them. There is no route to Net Zero that doesn't involve mass mobilisation of 'legacy' institutions. Equally, those institutions are singularly failing to take the required action. Someone has to shove them in the right direction
"It’s pretty clear that we need to liberate ourselves from the idea of market failure and replace it with a concept more like market design" Fascinating piece from @jamestplunkett

Politicians that dismiss challenge/critique/argument as 'playing politics' really are the worst. Does nothing but reinforce the perception that 'politics' is a grubby profession rather than a profoundly important contest between ideas and values.
Another example of colleagues in @lbbd quietly changing the game. There is so much that sits behind the Becontree Collections Service - including use of data, relational outreach, wholistic person-centered support, community partnerships and more 👏👏

New figures show that last year more new council homes were started in London than in any year since the 1970s.

@DrStevenProud@CharlesTTHF @stvallan Question. What happens if a person with assets between £20k and £106k who has made use of the means test passes away? If the means test can go on for ever and doesn’t count towards the cap, is the inheritor liable for the full £86k?
@JackShawLPC @lbbdcouncil Encourage, support, enable. Capacity to engage in deliberative processes a bigger barrier than willingness, generally speaking.
Lots of people not professionally involved in climate change may be finding it difficult to understand what is going on at COP26. Many of the people here have no idea either! So I have tried to summarise where we are with three days to go. Hope it may be helpful. 🧵/1
@GraemeCooke3@anthonypainter Also the distinction between proper strategy and delivery. So hard for state to do the former in the face of immediate 'delivery challenges' as defined by political cycles.
