@shortyman09@catholicpat The best way to learn Koine is to slog your way through Attic for months, cry, become convinced that you will never learn Greek, and then sight read the New Testament and realize it's the easiest Greek you will ever read. Just vocabulary building after that.
@ChrisCillizza McCain was nowhere this time in both 2000 and 2008. Romney faced a series of flavors of the month in Summer/Fall 2011. There were plenty who appeared possible in 2016, but nobody had the sense to admit when their chances were over. As always, watch Iowa & New Hampshire & find out
@natemup@JimmyGrebe2020@dlongenecker1@NewmanSocPres The SJ's from the page you listed are the Virginia martyrs. The cause was opened in Richmond as you say, but was folded into the larger La Florida cause. Hasn't happened with the Georgia martyrs (at least yet).
@FrChaseg00dman By the looks of it, that's exactly what they did. I would have probably rendered quaesumus as "pray," and "mentibus" as "minds." Best reason to not do so is if you have a longstanding traditional rendering decently known to the people (which we do).
@FrChaseg00dman My memory is traditional Angelus prayer was continuously used when praying the Angelus (started noticing late 90's). Only heard the 1970 collect on 4th Advent, and can remember thinking, "Wow, that sounds vaguely like the Angelus prayer."
@AndersRJorg@EsotericCD I would count the Hellenic family as the bigger historical loser than the Celtic, but it's close. And I think the term language of commerce makes more sense. Like Aramaic.
