Stopping off at Rouen en route to Normandy - it’s a great place to stop and eat ice cream but also talk about the importance of Rouen in WW1 and the significant damage to the beautiful cathedral in WW2 with @BattlefieldDisc

Our annual branch "away day" saw 17 of us visit the Fusiliers Museum in Bury on 2nd August. We were lucky to witness a drumhead service to commemorate Minden Day.

“We beheld a lithe, lean, extremely graceful man. During luncheon he and Dame Margaret dominated the conversation. Mr Lloyd George appearing quite happy in the ‘unusual’ role of silent listener”! (Ann Parry - DLG Staff) 😄
I find CoC to be the most authentic set of wargaming rules for a variety of reasons. Great effort has gone into ensuring that the friction of battle, national characteristics, and the moral component is hardwired into every phase of the game. You have to think, casualties matter
Last nights walk around Caen in a few roads I have not walked before. Several houses with significant shrapnel marks on them from June & July 1944.
I had a fantastic day out yesterday visiting Lard Island to gain an introduction to the Chain of Command 2 rules and the nuances of 'Big CoC'. I was very impressed with the level of enhancement that the amendments have brought to what was already the most authentic rule set.
August 1919: Sister E. G. Lee, from Leicestershire, started a campaign: British War Medal to be awarded to Nurses who had served on Hospital Ships in WW1. Rare papers in our collection - ultimately a successful campaign. W.O. AG10 and approved by “higher authority” - Churchill?
Today is the 107th anniversary of the death of Pte James Rowley, a young man whose life I discovered last year in a box of artefacts at a militaria fair. I've adopted James and was lucky enough to visit his grave in November last year - https://t.co/lj7qD9fIAX
