In this new article, @WondemagegnMulu et al. found a co-occurrence of infection & identical antimicrobial susceptibility profiles in children & animals in the same Ethiopian homes, i.e. transmission of Campylobacter via surfaces contaminated with feces: https://t.co/kot5SPBsF1
With our latest publication in @BBI_Health, researchers from @LM_UGent and @neuromodlab_KUL add compelling evidence about the role of the oral microbiome in autistic children: https://t.co/c1sMgGznfn
Importantly, all discriminative features identified at genus, as well as associations with clinical characteristics remained significant after correction for lifestyle variables.
Next steps will be to investigate the mechanisms and directionality of these observed associations!
We investigated differences in oral microbiome composition between 80 autistic versus 40 matched non-autistic children, the association with behavioral difficulties, as well as the impact of several lifestyle variables.
What a day! Submitted the full proposal of a European grant and had an important research paper from @MargauxEvenep accepted! #happyscientist#pro(ud)motor
At the beginning of this year we saw each other again as fellow evaluation committee members after a long time. I'm sorry there can't be a sequel.
My thoughts are with your wife and children and with your research group.
RIP Nicolas Barnich.
Good things come in (proteoform) pairs - research from the @petravandamme1 lab @LM_UGent 'Proteins à la carte: riboproteogenomic exploration of bacterial N-terminal proteoform expression' now out in @mBio! 🦠https://t.co/2ArzOPoZdb - Similar but not alike! 🧐
Very honored to have had the opportunity to give a flash talk and present a poster during my first #BSM congress!
A big thanks to @LM_UGent and @neuromodlab_KUL for making this research possible! ☺
