Can an independent make a difference?

The party system is a Goliath beauracratic governing body.

If we want change, we need someone willing to change the system.

We hear it all the time, “I like the independent candidate, but voting for them will split the vote.”
Ask yourself, what happens if we keep voting the same way because we're afraid to vote differently?
If the political system isn't working the way it should, why would we expect the same party system to voluntarily change it?

Party politics can make it difficult for MLAs to put their constituents ahead of party interests.

They get whipped (muzzled) to follow the party narrative, follow along with what the party wants and not necessarily what regions need. Especially rural ridings get left behind after elections, promises get forgotten.

An independent MLA doesn't have to answer to a party leader or caucus in the same way.

They can take an issue directly to the Legislature, challenge the status quo, and make democratic reform part of their work.

Change rarely comes from people who benefit from the status quo.

It comes when voters decide they're willing to support something different.

Voting for an independent isn't throwing your vote away.

It's about asking very important questions.
Who do I actually want representing my riding?
Who will question the system instead of simply working within it?

Who will stand up for our community even when that means standing alone?

Who will be a loud voice to get the results our region needs?

If enough people believe the system needs to change but keep voting out of fear that their preferred candidate can't win, then nothing changes.
Every established political movement was once considered too small to matter.
Maybe the question isn't whether an independent can win.

Maybe the question is:
What happens when enough people finally decide that change is worth voting for?

The system is broken.

The politicians aren't working FOR the people.
We need change.

People are angry. Our province is broken, and broke.
Our government has divided everyone, pitted us all against each other to cover their incompetence and ineptitude.

Don't fall for the distraction, their fear campaigns, the lies, the manipulation of emotions to make people too irrational to vote with common sense or critical thought.

It's all a show to manipulate voters.

To manipulate you.

Independent MLAs could force the system to change.
It is possible. The NWT government has only independent MLAs and it works.

The Independents work together, for the good of the Territory and for their regions.
It works!

Even in BC there was a very successful Independent MLA, Vicki Huntington.

She became the first Independent MLA elected in B.C. in 60 years in 2009 (winning by just 32 votes after a recount) and the first woman ever re-elected as an Independent in 2013 with a much larger margin. She was highly effective on local issues (Agricultural Land Reserve, farmland protection, infrastructure), got extra office resources, asked questions in Question Period on behalf of other MLAs, and forced the government to release documents. She is frequently cited as proof that an Independent can succeed in B.C.
There's actually a bigger legislative budget for independent MLAs.

Myself as an Independent MLA, spoke over 171 times in legislature, from questions in question period, to debates in estimates, to bringing forward private member Bills.

The whole time in office I've worked behind the scenes with ministers and ministries to get results for people.
I've been a strong advocate for rural areas left out by the party system.

Independent MLAs do have good representation for their constituents.

The parties will say otherwise because it keeps the system working the same, where they have the control of everything and ordinary people get left behind.
Independent MLAs can hold the government to account and bring their regional issues to the attention of legislature, and to whatever ministry needs to hear it.

Parties are easier for lobbyists.
Parties are easier for muzzling the voices that are saying things that the party, system or lobbyists don't want to hear.

Doing the same thing over and over, but expecting different results is insanity.

Change doesn't happen without people choosing to change.

We need change.

Let's choose candidates that represent our ridings, not just parties.

How BC Can Become More Affordable Without Taxing People to Death.

Right now too many British Columbians feel the squeeze.
High housing costs, expensive fuel, rising taxes, and a province that keeps asking households to carry more of the load, rather than resource development.
There is a better way.

Look at Alaska.
Alaska took its oil money, saved a big portion in a Permanent Fund, invested it, and now uses the earnings to fund services and pay every resident an annual dividend.
People feel the benefit of their resources directly in their pockets. The state does not have to tax its residents as hard because the resources are doing more of the work.
BC can do the same, and better.

Here’s how it works for affordability.
Get our resources working again.
Oil, gas, mining, and forestry can bring in billions in new royalties and taxes from companies.
That is fresh money coming into the province instead of more money taken from families.
Save a permanent share. Lock 25–50% of non-renewable resource revenue into a BC Heritage Fund. Protect the principal. Grow it through investments.

Use the earnings to lower the cost of living.
The annual sustainable draw from the fund can be used to cut fuel taxes, reduce(and eventually eliminate) the PST, and ease other costs that hit every household. Lower operating costs for businesses also mean more investment coming into BC and better-paying jobs.

Support housing the right way.
A healthy forestry sector means more wood for homes.
Faster approvals and lower municipal fees mean homes cost less to build.
Resource jobs in the north and Interior give people good incomes so they can afford those homes.

Give people a direct stake.
Once the fund is established and the deficit is under control, part of the earnings can go as an annual payment to every British Columbian, the same simple idea that has worked in Alaska for decades.
Resources are not the enemy of affordability.
Done right, they are one of the strongest tools we have to make life more affordable.

When companies develop our resources responsibly, they pay the province. When the province saves and invests that money wisely, ordinary people pay less tax and keep more of what they earn. That is how you build a province that can afford itself, and where people can afford to live.

BC does not need higher taxes on families.
It needs its own resources working for the people who live here.

If I am voted in as an independent, I promise to bring forward this concept for meaningful change to help British Columbians and constituents of Peace River North.

End ICBC’s no-fault system.

End SOGI in the curriculum. The way SOGI is being imposed through the public school system needs to stop.

No new taxes. No increases to taxes. Lets start lowering taxes and make life more affordable.

Since becoming an Independent in March 2025, I have spoken 171 times on the official record, in Question Period, debates, ministry estimates, statements, bills and other proceedings bringing the North’s priorities directly to the Legislature.
I have challenged efforts to move important discussions behind closed doors and called for greater transparency, accountability and public scrutiny.
I have stood by what I believe is right for Peace River North, even when it meant standing apart from a party.
I am running for re-election as an Independent because this riding deserves a voice that answers to its people, not a party!

NDP policies brought British Columbia to where it is now.
They have shut our resource sectors down, chased investment away, and put the burden to cover their reckless spending squarely on the people in this province.
BC = Bring Cash.

With the NDP opportunistically calling an election as a clear power grab two years early, after years of policies that have hurt this province, here’s what I hope happens:

That every person who lost their job, whether from forestry shutdowns, mill closures, curtailments, or any other sector gets out and votes.

That every senior and person with disabilities being forced to choose between food and shelter gets out and votes.

That every parent struggling to pay rent or put food on the table gets out and votes. Your children deserve a better future!

That every person who no longer has a family doctor gets out and votes.
That every person living in a community hit by hospital diversions gets out and votes.
NDP policies drove doctors away, not Trump.

That every person tired of being used as cash cow by government taxes and fees, while our resources sit locked up and unused gets out and votes.

I hope that everyone that is sick of a government that operates on NDAs and backroom deals, a government that promotes division between its citizens, gets out and votes.

This is not a tariff issue. The United States did not cause these problems, the NDP did.
This is a provincial issue, and it is TIME FOR CHANGE.

Here is the simple path to remove them:
To get the NDP out, you only need to do one thing in your own area:
Vote for the PERSON most likely to beat the NDP candidate in your riding.
That’s it.
Every riding elects only one winner.
The person with the most votes becomes the MLA.
If the NDP candidate does not get the most votes, the NDP loses that riding.
If the NDP loses enough ridings across British Columbia, they no longer have enough MLAs to stay in power.
It does not matter if the winners are Conservatives, Independents, or from different groups.
Once the NDP loses the majority of seats, the other MLAs can work together and form a new government.
They can form a coalition to create a majority.
You do not need everyone in the province to vote for the exact same party.
You just need the NDP to lose in enough places.
So vote strategically.
Vote for the person who BEST REPRESENTS your riding.
Vote in numbers that cannot be ignored.
Get your friends together. Carpool. Pick up people who cannot get to the polls on their own. VOTE.

I know we are all tired of voting. Tired of our votes being ignored.
Tired of the direction this province has been taken.
But not voting guarantees that nothing changes. The province will keep sliding, and the people who live here will go down with it.
WE NEED CHANGE.
Everyone needs to vote.

Today NDP Premier Eby called a provincial election.
He stated in his press conference that he needed to call it because Trump is an "Existential threat".
In reality, rather than negotiating with Trump he would rather use people's fear of Trump and Trump Derangement Syndrome to manipulate people into voting NDP again.

He's hoping that people forget that the problems in BC and our failing industries, the enormous deficit and debt were ALL caused by the NDP and their policies.
It's easy to blame Trump rather than take responsibility for their own failures.

They're hoping that the voters fall for it.
They think everyone is stupid.
We can see what they are doing.
We can see that this is just another political stunt to grasp for more power, at the expense of taxpayers money.

They don't care that a needless election will add at least $80 MILLION more to the debt that the NDP has burdened BC with.

They're good at wasting money though.
At this point I don't know if they can even do basic math, I know that they would never be able to run a business successfully if they treated it like they've treated this province.

Using Trump as an excuse, but Eby is really just taking advantage of the disarray and confusion in the BC Conservative Party to try to gain more seats and votes.
Eby already has a majority, he doesn't need an election to push NDP policies through, hes been pushing bad legislation through since the last election already.

Just a power grab.

And $92 million is the estimated cost for this election.
Remember last election?

Eby was offering $1000 to each household last time...
That's a carrot (bribe) for votes
Meanwhile, he's doing this during municipal elections and causing confusion and chaos all around.

As I said previously, I will be running as an Independent.

I have proven that Independent MLAs can be strong voices and advocates for their ridings.

I have tabled Bills in Legislature to repeal bad NDP Legislation.

Interestingly enough, I put those Bills forward as an INDEPENDENT MLA, even though the BC Conservatives had campaigned on those topics to get elected.

Independent MLAs can partner with any other opposition to get the NDP out, just like the Green Party propped up the NDP for a stronger majority with their whopping 2 MLA party.

Independent MLAs can and will vote against the NDP when their policies and legislation don't benefit the province as a whole.

The things the NDP bring in that benefit the major centers and leave rural BC screwed over, Independent MLAs would oppose those just as strongly as anyone else in opposition, especially if it's going to be detrimental to their constituents or the riding they represent.

We need strong voices that represent their ridings, not just more yes-people that toe the party line rather than do what they should be doing for the people that elected them.

A party doesn't make the MLA you vote in any better than an Independent MLA, it just muzzles the person that gets elected.

Politics in BC is broken.

The party system is not working for the people of this province, it hasn't worked for years. Parties have manipulated the people into thinking that a Party-system is the only way to go.
It isn't.

When things are broken you fix them.

This province has been broken by the NDP.

Let's vote in some strong voices and fix it.

Don't fall for the fear-smear manipulation campaign that the NDP is doing.

NDP policies did this to our province.

NDP policies and legislation are what killed our resource sectors.

NDP legislation has ruined our healthcare system.

NDP legislation has caused more division and hate between the people of this province than anything ever has.

They've caused uncertainty in property ownership, given land away behind closed doors without consulting the people of British Columbia.

The NDP killed more people by pushing a policy that promoted drug use over treatment, overdose deaths skyrocketed because of NDP incompetence.
Homelessness and poverty under the NDP have also exponentially increased.

Seniors in homeless shelters with drug addicts all around, caused by NDP (and federal Liberal) government.

The NDP has turned our province from a resource rich province that people wanted to live in, into a province that people are leaving because they can't afford to live or invest in.

The NDP is more concerned about how much of a dramatic performance they can do in an attempt to make themselves look like they're doing things for the people, while cutting the people off at the knees.

Let's all send them a message that we are done with their incompetence.

Let's make the province rich again, not the politicians!

Let's make this beautiful province a great place to live again!
