Regret to share that I’m suspending my campaign for Park Board in order to prioritize my health, my full-time job, and other prior commitments.
I greatly appreciate the guidance and support that I received from so many of you over the past 3 months!
@jambojeremy@DSchrantz I promise they’re not sending out a chopper to “harass neighborhoods”. But I know the noise is annoying — eventually helicopter search/chase will be replaced by a quieter, cheaper drone.
After a ton of harassment and truly vile MAGA replies to a recently viral post + Elon’s promotion of Grok nudification of real women, I’m stepping away from this app again, perhaps for good.
@Bobby1479644 My entire career is crime data and trying to improve overall safety. But I think the murder of a law-abiding citizen by a federal agent is far more significant and upsetting than, say, one drug dealer shooting another drug dealer over turf. ICE is making Minneapolis less safe.
I’ve watched the video. DHS is lying. The victim was trying to drive away when ICE was approaching from behind to make her get out of the car. The shooter didn’t fall over or get hit by the car, he just murdered her as she was driving away.
Today, ICE officers in Minneapolis were conducting targeted operations when rioters began blocking ICE officers and one of these violent rioters weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them—an act of domestic terrorism.
An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots.
He used his training and saved his own life and that of his fellow officers.
The alleged perpetrator was hit and is deceased. The ICE officers who were hurt are expected to make full recoveries.
This is the direct consequence of constant attacks and demonization of our officers by sanctuary politicians who fuel and encourage rampant assaults on our law enforcement. These men and women who are simply enforcing the law on the books are facing 1,300% increase in assaults against them and an 8,000% increase in death threats.
This is an evolving situation, and we will give the public more information as soon as it becomes available.
I’m a proponent of some pedestrianization efforts in the city, but I don’t think we should detour a BRT line to make it happen. BRT thru that intersection is more positive for the businesses there than pedestrianization. And n’hood residents are far from united on desired layout.
Today the City Council took a premature vote on the layout for GFS . The layout looks the exact same as what we have now & is a complete reversal from what residents of my n'hood have worked on for years. This "vision" lacks any thought on how pedestrianization builds business 🧵
Even with this high-profile incident, Minneapolis carjackings are still down 33% YTD vs last year, and down 52% vs the 3-year-avg.
Robbery *in general* is down 33%. But most people don’t know that, because the absence of crime isn’t as interesting to consumers of news.
@taylr The staff National Landscape Analysis is being filed/received today by council.

I just listened to an interview with the Throne Labs CEO on the ‘What’s Your Problem’ podcast — seems like it could be a good fit for downtown.
@transriotgrrrrl@Kyrae011 I think it’s great that both Minneapolis and Austin removed key barriers to housing development. That immensely helps affordability! It’s some other big cities that are still really restrictive and far more expensive that are the truly f’d ones.
@transriotgrrrrl@Kyrae011 That’s for all listings, regardless of bedrooms. 1BR yes Austin is 7% ($75/month) higher — not 0.7% like you said above.

Please point me to the source of this “house rent” being higher in Minneapolis — not even sure what that phrase means.
@Kyrae011 Cuomo was more scandal-tinged than Frey, Fateh more scandal-tinged than Mamdani. Mamdani tried to moderate some of his past stances a bit this year, Fateh did not. But yes, housing prices here aren’t terrible, so Fateh’s housing affordability message wasn’t very effective
@StupiderTootles@Kyrae011 Seems good that supply and demand are pretty equal?
If all the housing reforms hadn’t been in place (like removal of parking minimums) our strong rent control had passed, less housing would have been built and MPLS rents would be higher.
