Murray: Is it true that people making under $184,000 pay a 12.4% Social Security tax rate?
Dahl: Yes
Murray: And the rate for someone making $1,000,000?
Dahl: 2.2%
Murray: So, a 12.4% tax for people making less than $184,000, but 2.2% for a millionaire or .0002% for billionaires.
How the CIA interfered in Nigeria’s intellectual development to prevent socialist class consciousness.
In the 1960s, when Capitalist America was locked in a high-stakes Cold War with the Soviet Union, the CIA was completely terrified that newly independent African intellectuals, fresh off the heels of throwing off European colonial chains, would naturally embrace Soviet communism, Marxist-Leninist class analysis, and radical anti-capitalist revolutions against their former Western colonizers. Instead of deploying fighter jets, heavy artillery, and ballistic missiles to fight this specific ideological battle, the CIA masterfully weaponized money, art, academic funding, and literature. Their calculated goal was to gently, subliminally steer the brightest African minds toward Western liberal democracy, competitive individualism, and free-market capitalism, and decisively away from revolutionary, socialist class consciousness.
The CIA obviously could not openly hand over dollar bills to proud Nigerian writers, because this was the fiery era of sovereign, anti-colonial struggles against Western imperialism, and absolutely no self-respecting, anti-colonial intellectual would ever accept direct funding from Washington. So, the CIA brilliantly funneled millions of dollars through a highly sophisticated, covert front organization called the Congress for Cultural Freedom (CCF), and a philanthropic shell foundation called the Farfield Foundation. Operating out of its luxurious headquarters in Paris, the CCF presented itself as a wealthy, independent, and progressive organization dedicated strictly to promoting "freedom of expression", sponsoring literary magazines, and supporting avant-garde artists worldwide. In reality, every single cent of its operational budget was directed, controlled, and funded by the CIA.
To prevent militant, socialist networks from ever forming on the continent, the CIA recognized that it needed to build, control, and monopolize the physical platforms where African intellectuals gathered, ensuring these spaces were firmly, safely aligned with Western interests. In 1961, the historic Mbari Club was founded in the university town of Ibadan, Nigeria. It rapidly became the most vibrant, electrifying, and celebrated center for literature, theater, poetry, and visual arts in West Africa. It served as the ultimate gathering place for Nigeria's rising literary titans, including Wole Soyinka, Chinua Achebe, Christopher Okigbo, and J.P. Clark. What these brilliant, fiercely patriotic young Nigerians did not know was that the Mbari Club was heavily, consistently subsidized by the CIA through the Farfield Foundation and the CCF. By secretly funding the lease of the building, the publishing costs of their journals, the travel allowances of the writers, and the logistics of their events, the CIA successfully ensured that the very epicenter of Nigerian intellectual life was tied to Western patronage and not Soviet sponsorship.
This initial reality does seem highly counterintuitive and paradoxical because it was inside this exact Mbari Club that some of the most powerful, enduring Pan-African thoughts were conceived. Chinua Achebe published "Things Fall Apart", which contained a powerful anti-colonial consciousness that permanently shattered the racist Western propaganda claiming Africans had no history, culture, or civilization prior to the arrival of white men with their gunboats. Additionally, Wole Soyinka wrote "A Dance of the Forests" to sharply interrogate the political hubris of the newly independent political class, Christopher Okigbo composed his prophetic, avant-garde modernist poetry, and J.P. Clark captured the visceral human textures of local life. These monumental, anti-colonial Pan-African works were successfully produced largely because the CIA did not openly tell Nigerian writers what to write, or try to dictate their creative processes.
If the CIA had literally walked into the Mbari Club in Ibadan and tried to explicitly dictate, censor, or micromanage the conversations, brilliant, uncompromising minds like Wole Soyinka and Chinua Achebe would have rejected them and thrown them out immediately. Instead, the CIA brilliantly used its funding to act as a silent, invisible gatekeeper. They did not have to physically silence, ban, or arrest radical Marxist writers. They simply, strategically made sure that the non-Marxist, liberal writers had the biggest megaphones, the widest distribution networks, and the highest international platforms. By quietly funding the Mbari Club's rent, covering their publishing costs, and bankrolling their international travel to prestigious global conferences, the CIA successfully ensured that writers who focused on individualism, local culture, and bourgeois aesthetics became celebrated global superstars. Meanwhile, radical writers who focused on working-class solidarity, anti-capitalist struggles, and socialist revolutions remained underfunded, unpublished, and completely obscure.
The CIA in the 1960s was perfectly fine with, and even actively promoted, anti-colonialism, cultural negritude, and African artistic pride. What they were absolutely terrified of was class warfare. They desperately wanted to steer African intellectuals toward Cultural Nationalism (the safe, performative celebration of African identity) and decisively away from Marxist Socialism (which involved organizing, educating, and arming the peasantry to overthrow capitalist structures).
The CIA could care less how the newly independent African celebrated their tribal heritage, and whatever beautiful poetry they wrote about the glory of their ancestors was none of their business. They would happily, enthusiastically promote you even if you fiercely criticized European racism, British colonialism, or white supremacy. They could easily tolerate all of these cultural protests so long as Nigeria's massive oil wealth, raw resources, and cash crops continued to flow to Western capitals completely uninterrupted. What they were absolutely terrified of, and heavily, invisibly censored, was class consciousness. Writers who explored socialist ideas, class struggle, and anti-capitalist revolutions were simply not eligible for Western funding, international distribution, or global marketing, which successfully ensured that their works were buried completely away from public view. This was because they knew that if the African working class were enlightened about Marxist thought, they would immediately rebel against the local comprador class, organize general strikes, and dismantle the entire capitalist system that has reduced them to peasants in their own homeland. It is also critically important to emphasize that the CIA was perfectly happy to see the Mbari Club uplift the colonized African. This is because the primary motive for spending millions of dollars funding the Mbari Club was absolutely not about stopping the intellectual "uplifting" of Africans, but rather about completely controlling how they were uplifted.
It is crucial to note that the young Nigerian writers were completely unwitting, innocent participants. Wole Soyinka, Chinua Achebe, Christopher Okigbo, and others had absolutely no idea that their creative sanctuary was secretly being funded by American intelligence agents.
In 1967, courageous investigative journalists exposed the fact that the CCF and the Farfield Foundation were actually covert CIA fronts. African intellectuals across the continent felt deeply betrayed, humiliated, and outraged. However, by that time, the CIA's covert mission had already largely succeeded: the foundational, defining era of post-colonial Nigerian literature and intellectual thought had been established, funded, and firmly anchored in Western liberal traditions, successfully steering an entire generation of our greatest thinkers completely away from Soviet socialism.
Before integration, Queen Mother Moore organized a committee to get Black players into the MLB.
She would later come to see these efforts as misguided, saying, "Had I not been a Negro, I would have fought to get our teams in the big leagues. But what I did was kill the teams."
Even though it was the Soviets that sent highly trained intelligence agents to Beijing to educate, fund, and organize the early founders of the Chinese Communist Party, Mao Zedong would have absolutely never been able to successfully establish a sovereign communist state in China if he had not eventually rejected the orthodox Leninist-Russian blueprint to design and implement a highly localized communist ideology perfectly suited to the unique material conditions of the Chinese people.
This was largely because the rigid political philosophy of Vladimir Lenin strictly insisted that the uneducated, atomized peasantry could never spontaneously unite, coordinate, or organize in any meaningful way to pose a strategic threat to heavily armed, corrupt, and oppressive capitalist governments. For this exact reason, Leninist dogma dictated that there must always be a highly disciplined team of urban, middle-class intellectuals possessing superior administrative resources, financial backing, and academic faculties to coordinate the working class, organize them under a cohesive socialist ideology, and provide them with the exact operational blueprints, industrial strike guides, and guerrilla tactics required to dismantle their capitalist governments. This highly elite group of professional revolutionaries was known as the Vanguard Party, and it was the absolute, non-negotiable instruction handed down from Moscow commanding the young Chinese communists to strictly organize under this centralized urban structure.
Things were going relatively well for the Chinese communists until the urban-based Vanguard Party, which tragically consisted of middle-class elites, double agents, and direct beneficiaries of the corrupt, Western-backed Kuomintang (KMT) government in Beijing, predictably and violently betrayed the movement during the horrific 1927 Shanghai Massacre. Following this betrayal, communists on the streets of urban China were ruthlessly hunted down house by house, dragged into public squares, and either summarily executed by firing squads or thrown into maximum-security military prisons. The tiny, desperate remnants of the party were forced to flee for their lives. This was the exact historical moment when Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping, Zhou Enlai, Lin Biao, and Zhu De retreated with the remaining Red Army forces deep into the southern mountains. When they eventually launched their legendary "Long March" escape route, their numbers initially stood at a formidable 86,000 battle-ready soldiers. But after walking continuously for nearly 370 grueling, agonizing days, traversing treacherous swamps, climbing freezing snowy mountains, and fleeing from constant KMT artillery bombardments, thousands tragically died of malaria, starvation, hypothermia, and battlefield injuries. By the time they finally reached the safety of the dusty caves in northern Shaanxi, the entire Chinese communist force had been violently decimated, reduced to a meager, skeletal crew of barely 7,000 to 8,000 survivors.Mao Zedong himself was so physically battered and exhausted that he nearly died of a severe, life-threatening liver illness and malaria while running from the relentless Kuomintang armies.
It was this incredibly painful, bloody betrayal and catastrophic loss of life that forced Mao to permanently abandon the rigid, Eurocentric industrial urban philosophy of Vladimir Lenin and develop what is known globally as Maoism. According to Mao's newly forged doctrine, it was physically, structurally impossible to successfully build a revolution under a typical middle-class Vanguard Party in a country like China that had been brutally colonized, divided, and exploited by foreign powers. He recognized that in the colonized world, the highly educated, Western-trained, and wealthiest elites in society, the very people who possessed the administrative resources and academic capacity to coordinate a standard Marxist revolution, would always choose to submissively serve the financial interests of their white, Western colonial masters rather than ever unite the local working people under a shared, sovereign cause. To this end, Mao vehemently insisted that if China was ever going to establish a true, uncompromised socialist state and permanently break away from the suffocating shackles of Western imperialism, he had to completely bypass the untrustworthy, colonized urban intellectuals and aggressively organize the raw, rural, and massive peasantry.
It was during this period of isolation that Mao traveled deep into the forgotten Chinese countryside to actively live with, organize, and radicalize the poorest farmers, landless peasants, and agricultural laborers. Even then, the Soviet leadership in Moscow refused to support his cause, dismissing it as an ideological heresy that completely violated the urban-proletarian Leninist blueprints governing the USSR. In fact, even during the height of the Chinese Civil War between the Chinese Red Army and the Western-backed, fascist-leaning Kuomintang government, the Soviet Union actively, hypocritically collaborated with Chiang Kai-shek's KMT regime in Beijing. Joseph Stalin repeatedly advised Mao Zedong and his guerrilla fighters to pack up their weapons, surrender their autonomous territory, and allow themselves to be quietly integrated into a unified capitalist government, under the condescending warning that fighting a modern war with landless peasants was a hopelessly lost cause. Mao Zedong vehemently refused Moscow's directives, boldly insisting that in any colonized, neocolonial, or occupied society, the privileged, Western-educated comprador class will always, without fail, do the bidding of their white colonial masters, even at the absolute expense of the lives, survival, and ultimate freedom of their own domestic population.
Although the Soviet Union eventually relaxed their hostile, dogmatic stance against the Chinese Communist Party once they saw Mao's peasant armies winning actual military victories, it was not until the end of World War II that the tide completely, irreversibly turned against the Kuomintang. Following the Soviet military's rapid, crushing defeat of the Japanese Kwantung Army in Manchuria, Moscow allowed Mao Zedong's forces immediate, exclusive access to the massive, state-of-the-art weapons stockpiles, artillery divisions, and heavy armored vehicles that the occupying Japanese forces had built and abandoned. It was this sudden influx of modern, heavy military hardware that completely changed the tactical game, neutralized the air superiority of the Western-backed KMT, and eventually enabled the Red Army to execute a sweeping, devastating offensive that drove Chiang Kai-shek's corrupt forces entirely off the mainland onto the island of Taiwan.
This is like a massive, stinging slap in the face of every self-righteous proponent of the free-market economy who works tirelessly to brainwash the entire planet into believing that limited government intervention is inherently good, that state regulation is evil, and that prices will always magically find their true, natural value.
If the state does not decisively intervene to stop corrupt oligarchs, private equity firms, and global investment giants from buying up every single affordable residential home, real estate prices will never find a value that respects basic human dignity, local communities, or the working class. Instead, they will only ever find a highly inflated, artificial value that strictly protects the greedy corporate interests, profit margins, and portfolios of multi-billion-dollar venture capitalists.
Socialism works and will always work. Even the most ruthless capitalists on Wall Street still desperately lobby for massive government tax cuts, multi-billion-dollar state bailouts, favorable regulatory loopholes, protectionist trade tariffs, and direct central bank interventions, which is basically nothing but a highly customized, tax-funded communist manifesto designed exclusively for the rich, the powerful, and the politically connected.
“The imperialist strategy is to asphyxiate us economically, to provoke a rupture between the people and the Revolution.”
President Miguel Diaz-Canel explains the unique conditions of building socialism in Cuba under the chokehold of a 60+ year US blockade – what he calls “the main obstacle to our development.”
Rejecting the accusation that the new economic reforms signal a “capitalist restoration,” he asks, “Who can teach us how socialism is built under these conditions, if no one has that experience, if no one has lived it that way?”
BT’s @ldejesusreyes, along with Jorge Lefevre Tavárez, interviewed Díaz-Canel for Puerto Rican news outlet @ClaridadPR.
China's national bourgeoisie always knew this day would come. They knew what they were getting into. They knew who they ultimately served. They may have received that one golden star on China's national flag, but they never forgot what the large one represents.
The sorest losers of China's real estate "crash" is the western bourgeoisie, including firms like Blackstone. Indeed they were some of its main targets. They spent decades "investing" in China's housing boom, salivating over the prospect that China's housing market would financialize. That China would ultimately do to itself what they had already done to the US - treat houses like a tradable commodity, and benefit from the endless cycle of buying and selling. To turn people's homes into casino chips - to be endlessly bought, sold, inflated, leveraged, and over-leveraged, until the end of time.
Instead, they discovered the hard way who actually governs China.
In all countries, the property market is an important facet of class struggle. And almost everywhere, the wrong class wins. In China, the right one did. The state controls finance capital, not the other way round. The western mind cannot comprehend this.
This also explains why western media and "economists" have been decrying China's "crash" so viciously. They are simply expressing the frustrations and hysteria of the class they serve, the class whose dreams now lie in ruins. That's the real crash.
Similarly, it took the bourgeoisie some 500 years to defeat the monarchs, princes, and feudal lords. Communism remains our common future if we organize to win it.
median household wealth for whites in the US is $284k, for Black people it is $44k, per adult estimate by halving is $142k and $22k respectively, that puts white USians in 9th place and Black USians off the charts
One day “we will hang them with THE ROPE THAT THEY SOLD US”. — Karl Marx. Is literally the same statement. We live in consumer market. It’s where the many of the tools of resistance are found
Section 224 is going to permanently merge the US military-industrial-technological-intelligence complex with the Israeli, and make it impossible to disentangle once it is implemented. It will forever end the possibility of a US break with Israel. It will ensure permanent US enslavement to Zionism and Israeli Jewish supremacy. This is why Netanyahu, Lindsay Graham, Huckabee, Fetterman (who is merely a proxy for a Zionist Jew Mossad handler), AIPAC, WINEP, J-Street, the entire Zionist Israel lobby network came out recently to push the line (also adopted by AOCIA after it got the green-light from them) that the military aid to Israel can be stopped entirely, because that creates the problem of mobilization efforts to cut it off which creates pressure on the genocidal Israeli death and rape-cult.
The Zionist Israeli Jewish supremacists figured out a way to permanently get around that using their total control over the media and political class to push it through: Section 224. And it is going to pass now. Unless there is massive mobilization from now on against it, it will pass.
Bernie Sanders gave some token symbolic opposition to it, but barely ever talks about it or what it means. Massie and Ro Khanna have been more vocal, but that's pretty much it. No one else in the political class is saying anything about this, and no one in the media class and barely anyone in the epic based pseudo-radical alt-media class is saying anything about it.
I am going to regularly point this out because I want to make sure that once it is passed I will be on the record as having consistently and repeatedly done whatever I could to expose it. Take note of those who have massive platforms who do not do this, as it tells you exactly what they are.
Free Palestine! From the river to the sea! Their guns, their rockets, their drones, and hand grenades until freedom! Glory to the resistance! Glory to the martyrs! 🇵🇸 🍉
First of all Massachusetts financed most of the other colonies' land grabs and even then, Mass had claims from Fort Detroit to the Pacific Ocean (extending even further than the map), and only gave it up 10 years after the revolt
I will never forget that liberal zionists on the other side of the planet siphoned the energy of this liberation war to achieve local offices in the empire that committed the genocide, and subsequently threw the Palestinian cause aside. The greatest nightmare of my entire life.
Don’t believe in Dem Socs, it’s NOT socialism, HOWEVER, Mamdani has single handedly proven that Dems never did shit and never wanted to do shit. The BIG issue is he’s making a lot of ppl believe electoral politics are viable and they are NOT!
The problem with Jeff Bezos' ideology is that it's based on a false premise. The idea that "six thousand years ago someone invented the plow" is based on a faulty belief that ancient humans functioned as individuals. They did not.
Ancient humans were collectivist. The likelihood that one individual invented anything is slim to none.
This is the myth of the genius.
Archeological evidence demonstrates that for hundreds of thousands of years, early humans congregated around communal gathering places, like the fire, and engaged in problem solving and passing on of shared learning down through generations.
Additionally, the plow (and tools like it) were developed by humans in Mesopotamia, Europe, Egypt, East Asia, sub-Saharan Africa as well as other places - not in one place by one person. This is known as parallel development.
Believing that the plow was invented by one genius is like believing language was invented by one person. It is a silly myth and represents the projection of current moral standards onto past events.
This is called 'presentism' and it is both an uncritical and ignorant way to view history.
Social learning was the main driver of human evolution. Collectivism is how we both survived and progressed as a species.
The myth of the genius is an example of uncritical analysis and a flawed lens used to justify the grotesque hoarding of wealth and obscene inequality that is currently tearing at the social fabric our species.
It needs to be thrown on the trash heap of history.
It really something, The Republic of New Afrika argued that the Fourteenth Amendment was and is the mechanism through which the United States unilaterally incorporated a previously free people into the American polity. As in If we starts from the premise that emancipation created or restored the political existence of a distinct nation, then automatic American citizenship can be understood not simply as an expansion of rights but also as the legal extinguishment or subsuming of an independent political status. citizenship is viewed as incorporation into U.S. sovereignty(14th Amendment as a tool of involuntary assimilation) blk sovereignty is denied.
