In the years after an all-in Super Bowl run with Tom Brady, what Jason Licht continues to do in Tampa Bay is so wildly impressive, symbolized through two very different acquisitions:
- He picked up Baker Mayfield for scraps, paid him early enough to get the best deal on a franchise QB in all of football, and more recently guaranteed his 2026 salary to keep him happy until they do their next deal.
- He drafted Emeka Egbuka with the 19th overall pick — and adamantly predicted before the season this exact success we’re seeing from him.
Those are just two primary examples. But I’m not sure people realize the level of purgatory Tampa should’ve entered after Brady retired. Licht has expedited a “rebuild” by acquiring talent through the draft and free agency with confidence and logic. So much respect for their process.
@RobertL_parker@witchkingreads I felt the same way. It wasn’t a perfect book but I still really enjoyed it! After so many years of theory crafting people’s expectations were all over the place. Plus there’s another 5 books to look forward to.
@BrandSanderson@torbooks I’ve never been more excited for a book to come out. I’ve found a series that keeps me on my toes and gives me something enjoyable to look forward to. Wind and Truth Hype!
The fight the @Buccaneers are putting up each week just feels so much different this year. Never out of a game, down multiple key players on offense. Gotta respect the boys even though they came up short.
