Quick rule for defeating blocks:
If you are NEAR the ball carrier, defeat the block with POWER!!!

If you are FAR AWAY from the ball carrier, defeat the block with SPEED!!!

That means you have to understand where the ball is and how fast you need to get there.

NEAR THE BALL:
Strike the blocker.
Use your hands.
Create separation.
Keep square.
Get off and make the tackle.

FAR FROM THE BALL:
Do not waste time wrestling.
Do not dance with the blocker.
Rip, run, escape, and take the proper pursuit angle.

Power when you are close.
Speed when you are away.

The goal is not to fight blocks.

The goal is to DEFEAT the block and GET TO THE FOOTBALL!!!

See the ball.
Feel the blocker.
Choose the right technique.
Finish the play!!!
