The hypocrisy is impossible to miss: Philip Morris claims cigarettes “belong in museums” while simultaneously rolling out a massive Marlboro ad campaign that ties cigarettes to youth identity, ambition and self-expression.
According to The Guardian, Philip Morris is tailoring Marlboro messaging and catchy slogans in at least 20 countries:
In Indonesia: “I am authentic. I am Marlboro.”
In Germany: “Make your own legacy.”
In Bangladesh: “My race. My pace.”
If Philip Morris International was serious about stopping the sale of cigarettes, would it be advertising cigarettes? Great reporting from @guardian to expose this profound duplicity. https://t.co/72R3XaKpjm
US military personnel are suing British American Tobacco alleging that its secret cigarette business in North Korea helped fund weapons that were used against American troops. This is the company that sells Camel cigarettes and Velo nicotine pouches. https://t.co/Km0jaxB1HH

From the streets of Manila to the shores of Dinagat Islands, young Filipinos are saying: TobaccOFF NOW!
Through this youth-led movement, more than 170 young advocates are standing up to the tobacco industry’s deceptive marketing and warning their peers about the dangers of addiction.
A new @Reporte_Indigo investigation reveals how nicotine pouches like Zyn and Velo are spreading fast in Mexico, marketed with bright colors and sweet flavors but no health oversight. Despite expert warnings, lawmakers just advanced a tax reform that could actually legitimize their sale while ignoring serious health risks.
Tobacco companies want governments to think that they will stop selling cigarettes if only they can sell other addictive, harmful products. Don't believe it: the data shows that more smokers use these products AND keep smoking, which means more profits and more harms.
It's no coincidence that so many shops are selling harmful products near schools. It is the tobacco industry's intent. Read our new report to learn more. 🔗 https://t.co/qpSYEh34Mh
Today marks the final day of #INC5#PlasticsTreaty. As @jorgeinbk, STOP @vitalstrategies Director, said at #INC1: “Banning cigarette filters would be a significant victory for global, public, and environmental health.”
That message still holds true. Spread the word: #CigarettesArePlastics.

#WHA78 '' It's been 20 years since the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) came into force.
In that time, smoking prevalence has dropped by one-third globally, and there are 300 million fewer smokers today than there would have been had prevalence remained the same.''- @DrTedros
