I was on a different social media site and somebody asked what "puro" means in San Antonio and if it's somehow different from the simple translation of "pure." There was a killer response. This is so good it brought tears to my eyes:

"Chancho and his work truck loaded with three lawn mowers going 45 in the left hand lane on 1604? That’s puro.

Sipping margaritas and watching the sunset while your kids play on the grass at the Pearl? Also puro.

Coworker brings breakfast tacos? That’s puro.

Got to drink a gallon of water because they didn’t tell you this verde salsa is not for gringos? Also puro.

Your kids off of school because of Battle of the Flowers? That’s puro.

Pelting your kids with cascarones to teach them that life is hard but it’s harder when you don’t serpentine run? Also puro.

Quintessentially San Antonio, good, bad, and indifferent. Whenever you want to throw up your hands because a city of 1.8 million can’t get its stuff together, or raise your glass because damn, life is good….either way, that’s puro af."
