@DimitryNakhla They can also create their own agent and walled up the rest of agents. Or partner with one of them. In the end, their service is still valuable and it’s just a question of how they monetize differently
@DimitryNakhla His take as usual is overly simplistic. You still need Booking or Expedia to aggregate the supply for the agent/customer to review and book. The more agents, the better economics for the OTAs. Currently they are captive by Google search so this could help Booking.
@joecarlsonshow I don’t know Steve’s thesis but while that’s true, they took a lot of pricing power very quickly, they didn’t upset everyone. The resellers for example prefer the current setup and will likely continue to bypass the credit bureaus with the direct score program
@joecarlsonshow I don’t think you understand Dev’s thesis as well as you think or this was a poor articulation of that understanding. Dev and others have stated the competitive advantage comes from the secondary markets requiring FICO so they can analyze prepayment risks on a conforming mortgage
@joecarlsonshow All true and I’m sure politicians know this as they are not unintelligent. However, they act as if this is a problem to justify their role in “solving” problems for society. The reality today is that they are just bad actors which create more problems than what they solve.
@pulte Unbelievable load of crap. Americans do not care for. $50 credit scoring expense on their largest expense in a lifetime. Instead of this theater, fix your government spending problem and restore investors trust in your bonds so maybe interest rates go down. Utterly useless
@FromValue Markets will do that almost on a monthly basis. There is always some new terminal event depending on narrative. I’ve been in it since IPO then added a lot in 2022-2023 at $22-$23 but at current valuations, I’m no longer comfortable with this great company.
@DrewCohenMoney Thanks for the response. I thought so as well but wanted a sanity check. I like that they rolled it out first to the professionals hosts since they were the ones primarily affected and spending money on additional software to price match across platforms.
@joecarlsonshow Have you considered their TAM is not as large as they make it to be? By all accounts, most people do not enjoy learning let alone paying to learn anything. They are going after a small minority of humans that enjoy self improvement. Not saying it’s a bad company though.
