The term is not “deacon”, but “servant”. The Greek διάκονος (diakonos) is said to be where we got the word “deacon” - and Strongs does include it on the list, but translators of the Authorized Version (KJV and NKJV) as well as other translations such as the NASB, ESV, NLT - in fact MOST translations - translated it as “servant” … only the NIV and the Amplified (that I can find) seem to use the word “deacon”. When God acts sovereignly in exceptional circumstances it doesn't establish a new norm.

God used a donkey to rebuke Balaam. That doesn't mean donkeys should preach.

God raised up Deborah as a civil judge in a national emergency when men were failing. She was exceptional, not normative. And notably, she was not a priest, not an elder, not a congregational teacher.

The argument "God used Deborah therefore women can be pastors" proves too much.

By the same logic, since God used Cyrus the pagan king to restore Israel (Isaiah 45:1), pagans can lead God's church.

Exceptional sovereign acts don't override explicit apostolic commands.

1 Timothy 2:12 - Paul grounds the command not in culture but in creation order. That predates Deborah, predates Israel, predates every civilization.

Creation order isn't a cultural suggestion. It's God's design from the beginning.

I would then ask that pastor, what’s your housing allowance? Your benefits package? What’s your expense allowance? A pastoral compensation package is normally more than just cash compensation - and some of that is tax exempt! If I ever heard my pastor ever say something like that - we’d be having a “come to Jesus meeting” on saying stupid things to congregants.

I didn’t say butcher it all … I said the BLOAT. Government has a habit of hiring for the heck of it …to be an employment program. There are many essential agencies. My son in law works for one of them that keeps our nation safe. You do have to admit though that there’s a lot of waste and bloat.

Absolutely!

Getting rid of shop classes in junior and senior high school was horrible. My grandson did a year in college for business (so he could start one) then went to a trade school. This kid can fix and build anything ... He's flipping cars and now he's getting into houses... All while using that diesel mechanic training to work and earn s living.

He's in his early 20a, just got married, paid for his own wedding, and will be extremely successful by the time he's 30.

I couldn't be more proud of him.
