Not to be THAT dictionary, but…
It’s ‘per se,’ not ‘per say.’
It’s ‘dog-eat-dog world,’ not ‘doggy-dog world.’
It’s ‘hunger pangs,’ not ‘hunger pains.’
It’s ‘one and the same,’ not ‘one in the same.’
It's 'buck naked,' not 'butt naked.'
@brianne2k@hootsuite Not to believe all the personal "rules" that others developed and tried to pass on, like "must include five hashtags in every post" or "can't post the same content twice." 🙄 I learned real rules through experience and courses in the @UFCJConline social media program. 👍
@brianne2k@DQ4YOU Yep, "champ" is the original (and better) verb for this phrase, but "chomp" means nearly the same thing as "champ" and is well-accepted in this phrase now. https://t.co/pJirOXWD3a "Hone in" instead of "home in" is a more problematic eggcorn for me. 🥺
@brianne2k@jeeveswilliams 😄I prefer (and wish we could use) the British-English style of including the period outside the marks (unless it's part of the quoted content). More logical than always including it inside.
"Hone in on" or "home in on"? "24%" or "24 percent"? And "Millennial" or "millennial"? I'll share the answers at Hyde House in Hyde Park Village on Thursday at 1 p.m. 😉
We've heard a lot about artificial intelligence, but how do you write "artificial intelligence"? Our resident word nerd Joseph Priest explains. #AI#ArtificialIntelligence
@brianne2k A7. Yes! The most valuable quality a college has to offer is its prestige, and commercial opportunities like this detract from that prestige even further. #PopChat
@brianne2k A6. Everyone loves rebels and rules getting broken. 😁 Society has made cleanliness and orderliness values to aspire to, but they’re boring! #PopChat
@brianne2k A5. Trying to focus on the original story sufficiently while at the same time trying to focus on the new story as much as possible. #PopChat
@brianne2k A2. For my clients’ UGC posts. it would be difficult to capture the same authenticity and originality in other posts. And highlighting the post makes them a lifelong brand fan! #PopChat
