A Chinese animal rescue centre volunteered to pay $8000 and bought a truck load of dogs that were already loaded inside en route to the slaughterhouse. The dogs were rescued from butchery in a stand off between animal rights activists and dog meat sellers in central China. Such rescues have been taking place with some regularity. There needs to be a shift in human consciouness when it comes to the consumption of sentient beings.
