Caitlin Clark has done so much for the league. She SHOULD be treated differently by the Fever, and her teammates and coaching staff should STFU and embrace the greatness. Treating her like a run of the mill WNBA player is stupid.
Reminds me of the Jimmy Johnson approach: When a reporter asked Coach Johnson whether he’d treat star quarterback Troy Aikman the same as a third-string lineman if he caught them both dozing off in a team meeting, Johnson said, “Absolutely not. If I found a third-string lineman sleeping in a team meeting I would cut him immediately. If I found Troy Aikman sleeping in a meeting, I would gently wake him and ask him if I could bring him a cup of coffee.”
Despite the rumors, the #Browns were never getting 3 firsts for a 30-year-old. But they got the next best thing: a 1st, 2nd & 3rd plus a 25-year-old DROY and 2-time Pro Bowl edge who was a 1st himself. Verse is worth a 1st-plus. He’s a sure thing, unlike 90% of NFL 1st-rounders.
While Jared Verse isn’t Myles Garrett (no one is) #Browns still got a top edge rusher
2025 among edge players (PFF)
-6th in pressures (80)
-T-6th in run stops (35)
-T-4th in forced fumbles (3)
-T-2nd in QB hits (20)
At 25, he’s just getting started
Across 2024 & 2025 55 edges have had 600+ pass rushes
Jared Verse
Pressure Rate - 16.0% (6th)
Sack + QB Hit Rate - 5.0% (17th)
Is he Garrett - No
But the way he’s an afterthought to some people when looking at the trade is irrational. He’s also 5 years younger than Myles
Jared Verse is a great Edge. The sacks will come 👇 He's also only 25 and still on his rookie contract for 3 more years.
Verse's 2025 Rankings (out of 110 Edges):
#4 - QB Knockdowns
#9 - QB Hits
#10 - QB Pressures
#13 - PFF Pass Rush
#14 - PFF Overall Defense
Jared Verse was top-6 in stops, hurries, hits, total pressures, and run stop win rate among edges last season and he's 25 years old.
People who say "any team could have matched" that offer for Myles Garrett have no idea how good Verse is.
Good deal for both sides. 📈📈
To clear up confusion, Jared Verse was The Rams 1st Round Pick (19) in the 2024 NFL Draft and went on to become The 2024 Defensive Rookie of The Year. So, in essence, The Browns get 2 FIRST ROUND PICKS, 1 2nd, and 1 3rd. Age 25 versus 30.
Now agreed to and official: The #Browns are trading Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett to the #Rams for star edge Jared Verse, a 2027 1st-round, a 2028 2nd round, and a 2029 3rd, per me, @AdamSchefter and @TomPelissero.
The offseason's biggest trade is final and real.
“The Browns were adamant that they had no interest in trading Garrett, and even told that to the Rams, according to sources.
But the Rams refused to give up what one source called their ‘persistent pursuit’ of Garrett. Los Angeles, according to sources, continued calling and calling -- the only team that tried to pry loose a player the Browns once deemed untouchable.”
Expected new Browns DE Jared Verse, who was the 2024 AP Defensive Rookie of the Year, has 99 pressures since entering the league in 2024. Only Micah Parsons (119) and Myles Garrett (109) have more over that span, per ESPN Research.
Verse turns 26 in November and is eligible for a contract extension after the 2026 season.
No matter what happens the rest of the playoffs, #Cavs fans cannot possibly slander Jarrett Allen anymore. He has more than answered the call during the playoffs. Has arguably been their most effective player.
