This iconic photograph is still considered one of the most-terrifying space photographs to date. Astronaut Bruce McCandless II became the first human being to do a spacewalk without a safety tether linked to a spacecraft. In 1984, he floated completely untethered in space with nothing but his Manned Maneuvering Unit keeping him alive.
A FLOOD of startups are raising before the end of the year.
The top 10% will get it done fast, but HOW you run a process is key for the rest.
Every Primary portco creates an FAQ doc and they share it after the first meeting
Here's why + an outline that helped 1 co raise >$400M
"Ultimately, fintechs need to remember that they are, first and foremost, technology companies. And the way to win is to build incredible software." -@M_Sindicich
Fintech faces its reckoning: It’s only a matter of time until the house of cards collapses https://t.co/Hs6vy43L0g via @techcrunch
In The Last 3 years at Man Utd:
• 3 Women now accusing Antony of assault & one set to do a TV interview on it.
• Sancho statement saying he is being scapegoated.
• Whole Greenwood situation & how awfully Richard Arnold handled it.
• Takeover being dragged on (creating job uncertainty for employees).. and now staff turning on Glazers and leaking stories.
• Ronaldo goes on Piers Morgan disrespecting ETH then goes in on how bad the club is run and the owners.
• Bailly comes out and says the club favour British players.
• Bailly likes comments slamming Maguire and team mates.
• Lingard falls out with club over not getting loan move so they give him a holiday.
• Lingard/Martial go on social media to call Rangnick a liar.
• Rangnick calls out club, basically says half the squad have the wrong attitude and the board have no clue (said we need open heart surgery).
• Rojo calls out Maguire and has big bust up with Ole for playing Maguire over him.
• Multiple dressing room/team leaks.
• Martial interview (slamming Ole/Jose).
• Tried to sign Arnautovic (fan outrage over racist comments stopped this).
• Luke Shaw came out and admitted a lot of Man Utd players weren’t 100% committed (21/22).
• Lingard told Scholes dressing room was a mess.
• Maguire Greece situation.
+ the whole super league debacle that the Glazers/Woodward were the ring leaders behind.
No other top has had this much drama.
A lot of these is a result of the Glazers running the club like a circus. Constantly keeping unhappy players so they don’t have to spend money on replacements among more. #GlazersOut
MANY startups are living with bad decisions they made when cheap capital flowed freely.
Massive value destruction was driven by Founders playing Hungry Hungry Hippo, trying to accumulate as much revenue as possible.
A few thoughts on how to learn from their mistakes:🧵👇
UPDATE: This is happening. Our internal @IVP data shows we have evaluated more deals in recent weeks than anytime in the past 24 months. Going on a limb here, but I believe the volume of companies fundraising (and probably $s) Series B and later has officially past its nadir.
I love speaking with @EdLudlow on Bloomberg given his global perspective on technology, innovation, and talent. Thanks for inviting me today to chat about investing at the cutting edges of technology, to make science fiction become science fact. From @saildrone doing climate monitoring and defense tech to @AppliedInt enabling transition to electric and autonomous vehicles to @huggingface promoting creativity and freedom of expression using AI.

From @techcrunhch Interchange newsletter. @haslettp, co-founder and chief strategy officer of EquityZen, had this to say about https://t.co/OlL5WMaV0c choosing to move forward with its delayed SPAC despite all the negative headlines over the past 20 months. Via email, he wrote: “Senior leadership at https://t.co/OlL5WMaV0c (and its investors) are not surprised the stock is ‘down’ 90%. The de-SPAC was a way to raise $565M. Nobody else was going to give them $500 million. Vishal Garg saw that there was one last wedding dress for sale, and he took it. He knew it wouldn’t fit right, but he didn’t care. He got it done.”
This will be loads of growth stage companies that need to raise and forced to take their medicine by going public or snag the last wedding dress. Haha.

W. Buffet is the
Buffett's 44% CAGR and Various Types of High Quality Investments, by @JohnHuber72 https://t.co/4RXvB5bvaS
"Remember: a good business isn't one that has an interesting or exciting narrative, it's one that makes a lot of money relative to the money invested into it. Buffett obviously doesn't get influenced by narratives or growth stories. He's only interesting in finding great investments. And great investments tend to come from good businesses that are undervalued. And good businesses tend to have two common themes: strong returns on capital and good management that are rationally allocating free cash flow. Japanese stocks and energy stocks lack exciting narratives, but they have these key ingredients that are found in most quality investments: good returns on capital, smart capital allocation, and low valuations. All three engines are working in these two investment areas for Buffett. I think this is what interested him in Apple, it is what interested him in Japan and energy, and it is what has led these investments to become so successful."
