@simpsoka Two limiters on goal usage for me (mileage may vary):
1. Loops occasionally hyper-focus on issues and lose the forest for the trees.
2. I'm not 100% sure what "success" looks like until i'm 3/4 of the way through. That said, I should use Goal more for the last mile work.
@ajambrosino Thank you for this amazing work!!! I switched from Claude Code the moment I tried GPT-5.4 w/Codex. It was so much better at thorny architectural issues. GPT-5.5 and all the Codex improvements sealed the deal. I fully canceled my Claude sub. Codex... ride or die.
@Javi Biggest game-changing improvement for me would be iOS Codex remotely working in long threads from my laptop Codex. I always get CodexClientError error 11 when i try to load one.
@garrytan Same for my son. My doorway to understanding neurodiversity isn't something to "fix" is natural selection. So many people are not neuro-typical. Why? Neurodiversity presents unique opportunities for insight, imagination, and moving society forward.
@jxnlco Cool. In practice, the micro/macro distinction for me has become more about how much reasoning power needs to be applied, and less about the task size. How much of the outcome is understood and well-explained vs parachuting codex into a complex project.
You motivated me to turn my template into a skill: https://t.co/5pu2FS2Nqb
Here's the very abbreviated snippet version that spawn the following subagents:
- Subject Matter Expert
- Source Scout
- Adversarial Reviewer
- First-Principles Reframe
- Implementation / Feasibility Analyst
- Synthesizer
And sets a goal: Produce a decision-useful research brief on [topic] that identifies the strongest recommendation, the evidence behind it, the main counterarguments, the practical implementation constraints, and the conditions that would change the conclusion.
@btraut I frequently need to tell Codex to (1) spawn subagents and (2) close them when it hits the 6-agent limit and fails to spawn more. For now, I've added these instructions to the agents.md. As long as I'm on 5.5-Medium or higher, that works (5.5-Low sometimes won't follow).

Facebook, the creator of the original sin that is the hamburger menu, quickly recanted, declared it didnβt work, and went back to obvious navigation. This thread is a good reminder that most of the Product world never got the memo.
There are many flavors of hamburger icons out there. From chocolate cakes and hot dogs to fries and veggie burgers. But not in one usability session did they help users navigate faster than a boring yet remarkably efficient "Menu" button. No icon, just a button with a text label.
