@rkabushenga I remember visiting Kenya during the Moi days and that time they wanted to borrow ours in a similar manner... the admiration was on how he threw figures around in his speeches and was perceived as really in charge. The more things change, the more they remain the same....
Well deserved! Live long our beloved father... you rose from zero, lived well, served selflessly, and have left us an indelible legacy... we are forever grateful! @apollo_kazungu
I wish to inform the General Public that H.E the President has granted an official burial to fallen former minister, diplomat, educationist and elder, Dr. David Kazungu.
The N.O.C and family will issue a detailed burial program tomorrow. Sympathies to the Kazungu family. BMB
π’ Today marks a significant milestone in Somalia's development as we launch the Social Statistics Sector Strategy! π This strategy, developed by @NBS_Somalia with support from @unicefsomalia, will guide our efforts in producing and utilising social statistics for informed decision-making and planning. π
π We thank the esteemed speakers, including the keynote speech by Minister of @MoPIED_Somalia Hon. @HonBeenebeene and the Chair of the @AqalkaSare Social Affairs Committee, for their insightful contributions during this momentous event. π
π€ We also appreciate the support and commendations from key stakeholders, including the Chief of Social Policy at @unicefsomalia, the Chairman of the Association of Somali Universities, and the Somali Chamber of Commerce. Your endorsement reinforces the importance and relevance of this strategy in driving our nation's progress. π
π A special thank you goes to @unicefsomalia for their unwavering support in developing and implementing the Social Statistics Sector Strategy. Together, we are empowering Somalia with accurate and comprehensive data for effective policy-making and program implementation. π
π We would like to recognise and thank Mr. @SaidAbdillaahi, the Director of Population and Social Statistics at @NBS_Somalia, for his exceptional leadership and insightful presentation during this event. Your expertise and dedication have been instrumental in shaping this strategy. π
π‘ The Social Statistics Sector Strategy will address key challenges, such as coordination, institutional capacity, data gaps, and financial resources, that have hindered the production and utilisation of social statistics in the past. By aligning with international frameworks and national development plans, such as the Somali National Development Plan-9 (NDP-9) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we will enhance our data-driven decision-making and monitoring processes. ππ―
π The comprehensive development and validation process of this strategy involved extensive consultations with stakeholders within the Somali National Statistical System (SNSS), ensuring their valuable insights and ownership. Together, we are building a robust statistical system that can effectively respond to the evolving needs of our society. π₯
β¨ The successful implementation of this strategy will have a transformative impact on Somalia's social development. By addressing coordination challenges, strengthening institutions, and closing data gaps, we will lay the foundation for evidence-based policies and programs that improve the well-being of our people. π±
π€ Let us continue to work together, hand in hand, to ensure the full realisation of the Social Statistics Sector Strategy. By leveraging accurate and reliable social statistics, we can make informed decisions, drive sustainable development, and build a brighter future for Somalia. πͺπ
