@NIKNBAYT 2y ago at Sloan sports conf. I pitched this end of quarter strategy to the Miami Heat analytics team and they rejected it. <24s end of 1-3Q & in the bonus it’s ~+0.8–1.0 EV to foul (and even higher if you foul a poor FT shooter in the screening action). Idk why teams dont do it.
@TrailsAndAlesUK New to running but not no prior fitness — used to play sport a while ago, but little exercise in last 3 years. Started @ 28m, 7 weeks in, ran 20:57 last week. I think I can get there in 9 weeks.
@PranavSriraman Not all potential assists are made equal. There is a reason Boston were happy to give up Caruso 3PAs. Sometimes “the right play” is not the best play.
@SamQuinnCBS I’d add they’ve built a winning culture where players understand, accept, and excel in their role, are extremely disciplined and play with effort thru all 82+ games, seem to root for each other. Likely part culture, part identifying & acquiring good dudes over just mere talent.
.@EvanMiya there is a current debate about Jaylen Brown's on/off numbers - some suggest the Celtics are better without him (-9.3 differential); others point out it is because he sits against bad teams and plays primarily against starters. Do you have a tool that quantifies individual player on/off splits after adjusting for strength of opposing players?
@StoolGreenie Saying the Celtics are better when Jaylen is off the court, ignoring the fact that he sits out games against bad teams and plays majority of his minutes against starters, is like saying umbrellas are useless because you also don’t get wet on the days you don’t use them.
