BOJ bought there own treasuries to strengthen the Yen, it’s a quick fix. They have been doing this for many months, as the chart below shows. But the more the BOJ intervenes the less effective it is, most of the time the Yen shoots back up higher than it was previously. The only way out for Japan is to raise rates to permanently strengthen the Yen.
