@damndanneh Infinite points of light appear from the warm and welcoming darkness and begin to coalesce, as something infinite and eternal chooses to make itself finite in order to show how much it loves those things which move in space and time.
@kane@levib Wood and aluminum are the only two realistic options, most places use aluminum (they're better!) but most places also don't have the same density of overhead powerlines (muni) SF does.
It's uhh, on the website: https://t.co/TsqE3blojL
@_Chroma_@GingerDotDev@TetraspaceWest One of the reasons that PEPFAR is undiscussed in many EA circles is specifically because it was so well government funded. A lot of the research that GiveWell etc. did was specifically on underfunded programs.
@SordarNidhiram@tracewoodgrains Yes. In fact I picked the first yougish activist I could think of (Greta thunberg), googled "<name> profile" and the first article I read names her parents. The Malala profiles I can find don't mention her parents names, but they're on Wikipedia.
@ArsonAtDennys@ryxcommar@JakeLandauTO Whether you think it's good or not, "deeply uncritical support of Israel" is a US norm and has been since before Israel was a state! Biden wasn't deviating from established policy, and that's his failure.
@SordarNidhiram@tracewoodgrains This is balanced, I'd even say caringly framed, background info. Whether or not you think the overall piece is a hit, this is just puff price background.
@SordarNidhiram@tracewoodgrains “I think America is the greatest nation on Earth, and I think it’s OK to teach that,” she said in a Kickstarter video in 2015. “That doesn’t mean we think any less of other people or other countries.” is the quote from the article that is being described as "going after".
@ctjlewis@BarneyFlames@lelregi But again, is the raw number of us students decreasing? Lots of good schools have innovated in expanding access, and many international numbers are inflated by grad programs.
@atheorist A charitable/moral framework that in 5 years went from primarily funding preventable diseases in Africa to primarily paying million dollar salaries of SF-based software engineers is broken.
@GazanRiviera@willmenaker@marcinthelab This isn't actually a parody account, it's just a leftover joke from ????.
Truly I have no idea. IDK if this would work. I too am deeply YIMBY, and like, this seems not awful.
@GazanRiviera@willmenaker@marcinthelab I don't think this works on the level of specific landlords because, generally speaking landlords aren't building. Like the challenge isn't that developers don't *want* to build its often that they can't.
Ok actually: neighborhood based rent (increase) cap that only continues if the neighborhood adds a minimal amount of additional housing. Do the same thing with property tax. Align the incentives of incumbents with community growth and sustanability.
@willmenaker@marcinthelab Given how that worked with property taxes (creating a class of landed gentry), yes. You might be able to convince me of a rent cap that is tied to a minimum amount of new construction.
@Schickrateez Like I said, we'll see. There are facts at issue that aren't public. It may be the case that this is how things shake out. It may also be the case that Trump, for example, asked El Salvador to keep Garcia even after being told not to. That would be illegal.
@Schickrateez The executive should also not be capable of avoiding judicial oversight by claiming things that are not foreign policy are. Deference is warranted, but is rarely absolute, hence the discovery process.
