So a government drowning in trillion-dollar deficits borrows $150 billion more at 4.5% interest rates that taxpayers will be paying forever, in order to compensate us for higher prices that they deny are actually resulting from the tariffs. Makes sense.
An early early morning on the South Shore Line as service resumes through Michigan City for the first time in over a year. Proud to join the NICTD & @wsp team on the inaugural run through the new stations. All aboard!!!!
@RAILMag I believe it's actually jointly owned, but UP does not operate on it for operational/PSR reasons and instead routes its trains via the Lake Charles/Dequincy Subs to Livonia.
@davidlylejones @PoPville@Metrorailinfo Same apparent reason for both. Track electrical circuits communicate to ๐how fast they should go. In these areas, trains are receiving a zero speed and are stopped. Once stopped, they pick up a new speed command & proceed (till stopped again) Why it hasn't been fixed? No clue.
@JoeySchmittPhD@wmata@Metrorailinfo This was reported many times over the years. It's likely due to issues w/the signaling systems in the track which tell๐ how fast to go.๐is intermittently losing comms w this system and is brought to a stop repeatedly till they clear affected area. Same occurs outside of RI Ave.
@yellingattrains@uncriticalsimon@unsuckdcmetro@HeadwaysMatter They do have a timetable, with times for end of line departures & certain points along the line. It isn't published, but can be found on 3rd-party apps that pull from WMATA API feed. However like most headway based schedules, times can be flexed to accommodate operational issues
@Metrorailinfo@FLLyWitPrince No, there is an issue in between these stations and it is not a one time operational issue. Trains are consistently being stopped by ATC commands and experiencing delays in this area.
๐President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy:
We will win.
There will be new cities.
There will be new dreams.
There will be a new story.
There will be, thereโs no doubt.
And those we've lost will be remembered.
And we will sing again, and we will celebrate anew. ๐บ๐ฆ
@ZackFord@wmata Probably due to ๐ losing speed commands. Simply, onboard ๐ computer gets signals from track which tells it how fast 2 go. Due to signaling issues in area, it doesnt receive signals & is brought to a stop. ๐ then resets/gets signals again or verbal authority to proceed
@unsuckdcmetro@delco2dc I'm referring to the ATP system that enforces speed commands and restrictions to comply with signal and track indications, which is similar (although not identical) to PTC systems used by railroads.
@unsuckdcmetro@delco2dc Positive train control, required by FRA for railroads (Metro is not one). They use a similar system but the safety feature was bypassed to allow the train to pull up to the signal in order to service the station. It was then not re-engaged, which allowed the train to pass the red
@RailTransitOPS A signalling software upgrade to prevent signal 98 being set to lunar when a train/track occupancy/signal is detected on the lead in the opposite direction would probably be cheaper. I've seen it used elsewhere around the country.
@NBNicolaiB Happy Birthday NB!!!! Having followed you for 10 of them.. its a big one for me too! I hope you enjoy the rest of it and have an even better year.
